Germany's Quest to Not Embarrass Itself, the WC26+NL24-25 Thread

I just hope that Karl, El Mala and Bischof makes the squad so they can gain valuable experience
Would have liked Ourdraogo in the squad as well specially after his his great goal today but both him and Bischof together in the squad is not going to happen

 

Hope they all make it. Maybe Bischof can be considered as lb cover for Raum but we have already brown and Mittelstädt with more experience.
Pavlovic, goretzka, nmecha, stiller, quedraogo, bischof, leweling, musiala, wirtz, karl, El Mala, Sane.
Woltemade, Undav, Havertz.
Raum, brown, schlotterbeck, Anton, Tah, Rüdiger, Thiaw( or Ginter), Kimmich
Neuer, Baumann, Nübel
These can make a very good 26 squad though there are still like 10 more good players(Baku, Bisseck, mittelstädt, groß, Stach, Schade, Beier, Adeyemi, Führich, Tresoldi). I don't know if I forgot any name.

 

Manuel Neuer is still the best German goalkeeper. His lack of consistency and injury proneness due to age is the concern. Of course I didn’t want him in the squad as his presence is not going to make a difference for Germany’s outcome and preferred to have Baumann as number one. But by taking Neuer, Nagelsmann is still taking the best keeper of the nation

Ter Stegen was never as a good as Neuer, not even a single year.

 

Stach is injured and might miss the WC. Hopefully a better chance for Bischof and Quedraogo to make the squad now.

 

If up to me, Atubolu needs to start as No.01, his form is terrific. He's confidence good kicking a modern goaly. Bischof is useful can cover DL, DMC, MC even LM so many positions.

 

It will be very interesting,after the WC and after Baumann and Neuer retire, to see the competition between 4 great talents : Urbig, Atubulo, Backhaus, and Seimen. I think it would be the first time we have such big number of keepers almost same age competing at such high level. Hopefully we can keep them all to see who turnes out to be the best out of the 4 ( because Atubulo, Backhaus, and Seimen all have double nationalities).

 

I hope Ter Stegen becomes fully fit and plays at least one tournament for Germany as a starting keeper.

 

Post WC I hope to a refresh, hopefully Nagelsmann goes back to club football and Klopp takes the job whilst guys like Neuer, Rudiger, Goretzka, Sane, Gnabry etc can be replaced by younger players.

I agree on ter Stegen, would be a shame if he never gets to play a tournament so hopefully he gets fit and back to his best over the next couple of years.

 

Havertz scored a very important goal( if they ended up winning) that leaves Arsenal with 1 more win in the last match to secure the title.

The thing with making Neuer no.1 again is that he is pretty injury prone these days, can he even play a lot of matches in quick succession?

A lot of focus is going to be on the Neuer-Baumann dynamic, if Neuer makes a mistake the camera will point at Baumann etc. Imo Nagelsmann has created an unnecessary extra problem.

 

Seems El Mala is in the WC squad, good news imo hope he gets a chance to shine.

Also seen reports that Fullkrug will not be there, it will be Woltemade, Havertz and Undav with maybe a 4th striker option (Beier?).

 

So far from the reports posted Nagelsmann is doing well in his selections. I agree on Leweling, Stiller , and Undav and also on omitting Vagnomann, Führich, and Mittelstädt ( the best of the 3 names omitted but Brown is also great sub for Raum and can play on both sides).
Nmecha is also selected it seems which is great news as he should be a starter if fit.
El Mala is the best we have as rw to make an impact from bench.

 

Yeah Nmecha started on Saturday v Werder and looked fine in terms of his fitness, so no surprise he's included.

I hope that along with El Mala we also see Karl (almost certain), Bischof and maybe Ouedraogo included, Get as many of our top prospects major tournament experience as possible.

 

Bisseck will not be included in the WC squad. Schlotterbeck, Tah, Rüdiger are set. Anton had a great season so he should be in. The 5th CB probaby could be between Thiaw and Ginter

 

Bisseck has been pretty good for Inter, heavily involved in a double winning team. Played well v Lazio in the Coppa Italia final last week. Unlucky not to be involved imo.

 

The squad is leaking bit by bit, most of it will be known before the press conference tomorrow lol.

 

Anton is in, along with BVB team mate Beier.

So far the squad is looking like

GK - Neuer, Baumann, Nubel

D - Schlotterbeck, Tah, Rudiger, Anton, Kimmich, Raum, Brown

M - Pavlovic, Nmecha, Stiller, Goretzka

AM/W - Musiala, Wirtz, Karl, Leweling, El Mala

ST - Havertz, Undav, Woltemade, Beier

So basically we know 23/26. Sane will probably be there too. The two other spots will likely be another right back (Baku?), another midfielder (hopefully Bischof) or possibly another CB (Thiaw/Ginter?).

 

True though some reports are saying Nagelsmann might make a surprise and not select Sane. Quedraogo is also a strong candidate to make the squad.
I feel Ginter will be selected ahead of thiaw and Baku since he can play rb and CB. Also brown can play on the 2 sides and even Beier can be a good defensive rb since he has a very good work rate.

 

On the paper, the squard looks so fine and well rounded. We got tall ST, strong CB, superb GK, skillful AM may be France is the only the country that have better prospects than us.
