    Amazing game, totally owned Slovakia.

I saw a lot of one touch passing, I thought the interplay between Woltemade and Wirtz was excellent. Almost a perfect game. Passes were crisp, sharp. Hardly a misplaced pass during the game. Can't say enough about how well the team played. The aggression to reclaim the ball, pressing, man marking were what I expected of a German team.

I thought Slovakia kind of packed it in in the second half. They seemed listless, just letting Germany do what they wanted.

I remember the first game of the group, about how the new Slovakian coach transformed the team and turned it around. Now this happened. I wonder what will happen if he loses the qualification playoffs.

No they were merciful, just like against Brazil in 2014. If they really wanted to, pavlovich wouldn't have been substituted and the subs would have been later. Also 0 minutes extra time? Even the ref new it was a mercy killing.

-I consider this BOGUS, come on, the 2 "missing WCs" are
    1950=BANNED
1930=Germany couldn't afford to go after Great Depression

from my POV, Germany and Brazil are the only ones who qualified for every WC they were eligible for.

    -WOW what a record!!!!

There was no qualification for 1930, or in other words, everyone qualified and if you showed up you participated. Regardless it's a 100% qualification rate.

So I guess although Baumann played well in the qualifiers - MTS will be back to take the spot?

Great win with great performamce. Could be the best match for Germany after Euro 24. Many positives to take from this match : Wotlemade is the undisputed striker that Germany missed since Klose retired and his position should be fixed in the WC. At just 23 yrs we solved the striker issue for the next 10 yrs. Sane proved everyone wrong with his performance yesterday and Nagelsmann won his bet on Sane as a super sub at least when Musiala is back. Pavlovic is getting more and more involved and Nagelsmann looks convinced that he should be starter in midfield. Kimmich showed everyone that he is very important player as a rb. Wirtz has nothing to proof, he is already the star of the team and watching the ball under his feet is a joy for every german fan. Schlotterbeck and Tah so far are our starting CBs for the WC. Raum did not have his best match yesterday but he is still our best lb with brown not far away but needs match experience. The best news yesterday was the substitution of Quedraogo that I was hoping Nagelsmann would make. Scoring such a beautiful goal in less than 2 min with your first touch shows the enormous talent he possesses and how lucky we are to have such talents after all these years struggling after Euro 2016. With Musiala and Havetz back , Germany would be the team to beat in WC.

What about the losers after these 2 matches ? I think adeyemi tops the list. He needs to start impressing for Germany to keep his place in the WC squad especially with Sane being trusted by Nagelsmann and with karl and El Mala who could be another two options as wingers.

This game doesn't change most of the points that are questionable with Nagelsmann. Goretzka and even Sané - the guy made a career out of being good every 3rd game. That is not what you want in the National Team and while the game was very good, it also shows how our expectations are worn down through the years. It was Slovakia at home and one should be careful to read too much out of it. Both still have big questions marks over them imo. Imo we can only hope for one more youngster to make the WC team next year. Probably Karl or Bischof.

Gotcha but we have a reputation to lose as Germany board, don't we? Right before the tourney we will focus on how much talent is gathered in this team and how we should and could expect Germany to got to quarters or semis at least. ;) From zero to hero in no time and back again.

This game clarified Nagelsmann's thinking a bit - now that he finally could pick most of the players he is considering.

Most important is Pavlovich at 6 which really does resolve the whole structure of the side. I hope he can lock it down for both Bayern and the Nationalmannschaft because we might finally see some continuity. And let's face it - Kimmich has been doing an excellent job at right back when asked.

It looks like he wants to play with a genuine 8, and Wirtz excelled as the playmaker. JN has multiple decent options he can pick at 8. Nmecha clearly is ahead of Stiller for now. Stiller needs to get his head down for his club - it's my guess he didn't fit well in the camp and he had to be yanked - that doesn't mean he necessarily did anything wrong, but sometimes it just isn't the right timing.

JN obviously wants to be super vertical hence Sane and Gnabry. Gnabry has excelled of late being the guy who makes the final run from midfield - which I think you need as part of the package with Woltemade. Woltemade's linkup play has been excellent, plus he's great in the box - but there is going to need to be a quick forward to go past him.

Sane played very well in a game that suited him. I don't trust him at all. But I can see why JN would like to have that option.

For me the big question is what happens when Musiala comes back. I had wondered if Musiala might ultimate play as a genuine 8 with Wirtz as 10 but I suspect Wirtz will do his thing from the left and Musiala is going to drop into the top of midfield.

I have a feeling this is getting quite close to JNs best side now. Whether Sane would actually start against top opposition might depend on tactics e.g JN might prefer a workhorse like Havertz playing off Woltemade for the defensive pressures. But given he has not really played in 9 months, he needs to work his way back. I am not sure Rudiger starts either.

    Good signs IMO.

    lol - for sure!

For me the thing is not so much the quality of opposition, but that they actually played coherently for once. We haven't really seen that since Kroos retired. If Pavlovic can establish himself at 6, then the structure of midfield is finally resolved. Even if Goretzka plays at 8, it bothers me less because his presence doesn't mean that failed double pivot combo with Kimmich

The team is going to be run by Wirtz, Musiala and Pavlovich. Kimmich can do his alpha-bro thing from right back

yes Agree Rudiger to sub for Tah and Schlottie... but good to know we will have quite a few good CB for the the tourney ...

In midfield we currently have three sets of players
    • The Old - Goretska, Sane, Havertz and Gnabry
    • The young established players - Musiala, Wirtz, Pavlovic
    • The new youngsters - ... there are many options .....
    • JL has to find the correct mix.....for a total of 10/11 players

On another note Woltemade was also involved in three other goals ,
    Sane second goal
    Baku goal
    And the new youngsters goal

also good to see his build up play

If Karl's and Ouedraogo's development curve keeps rising through the season, then I can see a bolter Selection for either.

I think goretzka should not be in first group ( more into the 2nd). Groß, Andrich ,Amiri, and Füllkrug to the 3rd group. Quedraogo, El Mala, Karl and especially Bischof to the 2nd group
