I admit that i was very disappointed by Draxler's perfomance, I was a fan of his and I thought he was going to play a big role in this world cup, but now seems he has lost his confidence to score, which is desperatly needed in this team

We needa give up that "possession is everything" mentality

    its not our strengths anymore.

Big part of possession football is pressing, how to get the ball back when we lost possession. Oezil, Khedira, Mueller, Draxler and co. simply cant do it anymore

And our younger generations like Timo Werner, Sane, Gnabry and co. are better suited in a more direct system

    Looking at the above.....

Our best line up would e be
    --------------------------Neuer-----------------------
    Kimmich---------Hummels--Sule---------Hector
    ---------------Rudy-----------------Kroos----------
    Brandt-----------------Reus------------Werner
    --------------------------Gomez----------------------

I guess the biggest questions for this game would be:
    • Bring on Sule for BOATENG?
      • YES
    • Can Rudy Play ? IF not who to replace him?
      • Hope so if Not would go with GUNDO again
    • Should Werner move to the wing again and play Gomez upfront against the smaller Koreans?
      • No, would use that as a tactical change with in the game
    • Should Muller rather move more central
      • If fielded yes , as he is at his best there.
    • Should Brandt only be used as a sub?
      • I think for now yes
    • When are we going to see Goretzka?
      • hopefully soon, instead of draxler
    • Should Oezil and Khedira get another chance?
      • Not for now

agree most of it except should keep Rudiger instead of Sule, he is more mobile than Sule, which Hummel lacks

The only way we can fight with big opponents.
Back three with minor changes game by game. Ex for Brasil replace Ginter with Boateng

I have read many articles that Sule is actually quote fast and mobile , also Hummels and Sule have played often together at Bayern Munich. Also wondered Why Low went with Rudiger and not with Sule in the last game already...

So as it seems if we do qualify for next round. we would need to play against either .
    Brasil, Serbia or Switzerland.....
best bet would be for us to beat Korea by 2 goals, Sweden to beat mexico and Serbia to beat Brasil.

Would give us a game against Serbia in the second round............

They can't press because they are not in the right configuration.

Pressing systems require the team in possession to prepare for the transition

If the front 6 rush forward in a line - there is no ability to make the field small which is what we saw in both games so far

I get the idea that Low wants to attack from the flanks very directly - so he is making the field big and focussing on diagonals, but the positioning of the central players is all over the place

Ozil is the best replacement for Drax

For me Khedira is more questionable - rather Gundo or Goretzka

I wouldnt replace Khedria with Goretzka, Goretzka is more advanced and even less defensive than Khedira

I would play Goretzka as a AM or a SS even to support Werner

Still 4-2-3-1 with Kroos and Khedira in midfield???? When will Loew learn? We will be killed by counters again. They both need a DM behind

    ----------------------Neuer
    ---Kimmich---Sule-------Hummels-------Hector
    ------------------------Rudy
    ---------------Khedira-------Kroos
    --------------Goretzka-----------Reus
    -----------------------Werner

    Thats my choice

how reliable kicker's predicated lineup? Khedira really is not a good choic at the moment, should be a sub in the match to see how he performs. Still think the best partnership in the middle is Rudy with Kroos

From what I can see of Goretzka's club career he seems to be more of a proper 8 who can defend - his club record doesn't seem to suggest he could play as an AM or SS?

    I don't know - i don't watch Schalke

It's just guessing from the authors, it's not spreading "secret informations", calm down pls.

From my point of view: Özil was not that bad in the first game, don't know what a lot of you are on about, when it comes to him. He also flourishes in a functional team, so he and Gündogan are the best on the Rudy position in my book, when Sebastian can't play. Khedira offers a lot of experience and one bad game don't make a bad player. So the guessing from kicker is not that out of mind at all.

You also have to think about how to use these players for the "rest" of the tourney, you probably need them anyway in the later stages because of suspensions or injuries. It's better to integrate them again than to bench them until you need them in the semi-final or final but then without any rhythm. It makes sense and this is why kicker or other magazines probably see Khedira and Özil or Gündogan starting.

I think the Sweden game proved that it should have been Drax dropped for Reus rather than Ozil.

As far as Khedira goes it is of course completely possible that Low tells him not to play like a clown.

In the first half he played way too far forward e.g ahead of Mueller. Germany looked immediately much better when he went off and Ozil played more as a CM.

But if it should be possible for him to play more conservatively

I wonder what Khedira is showing during training that would lead to him starting a game like this.

Similarly, how trustworthy are these predicted lineups from Kicker?

For me, I don't see anything wrong with playing Özil if he's playing well. Everyone played pretty poorly against Mexico except for the last 20 minutes so it's not really fair to criticize one player for what was a pretty disastrous team performance.

If they can lift their levels a trio of Reus-Müller-Özil can actually pick apart a team that's likely going to push for goals. But general worry here is how it'll affect Werner's productivity. He didn't really starting exploding against Sweden until he was moved to the left to make room for Gomez. In this lineup I expect that the other three will feed him lots and lots of opportunities, and I just haven't seen him do well with them yet.

And I think quickly introducing players if this initial lineup doesn't work is going to be critical. We need to score by two. So if at the HT mark, we're not up a goal, I would take Sami, Thomas, and Mesut out and bring Goretzka, Gomez, and Brandt in.

That's what I wonder about with Werner as well

The focus on breaking through the flanks means you need someone who gets into space in the box to finish the moves

it more suggests Gomez or Mueller himself
