German women win the World Cup [R]

It's a sad day for Americans, Swedes, and everyone else that isn't German. But the German women pulled out all the stops in a great match for the Women's World Cup. The final:
    Germany 2: Sweden 1
Germany had a great tournament, and impressed a lot of people while they were at it. The biggest upset was when they shocked the Americans 3-0. I think the play of Rottenberg pretty much wrapped it up for Germany. She's a great keeper. But my MVP was Meinert. She is a fantastic player. Did anyone in Germany catch the Germany-Sweden match?

Thanks for using the [R], otherwise I might have had the result spoiled.

It was a "sad day" when you got a computer and just enough education to string a sentence together.

Sure posting the result in the heading sucks, but I think y'all being too hard on the thread starter.

Easy. The topic headline is like the German sense of humor: always start with the punch line, then explain, with great precision, exactly why it is funny.

Personally I don't know who the idiot is.

The one accessing a soccer message board after the final not expecting to find the result, or the one actually revealing the result.

It's pretty much a tie for me.

    It was a great match.

The referee was awful. The swedes played very unfair and should have been booked early.

I wish everyone was as hard on April Henrichs as they are on soccerchick.

Congrats to Germany....they were clearly the best team in the WWC.

I think some of the people in this thread are being very stupid towards Soccerchick. I'm sure most people would know full well by now that Germany had won the World Cup, she must have thought it was just the score that shouldn't be stated in the subject field.

A yellow card for that, what a joke.

Oh btw, congrats Germany. I really grew to like Sweden, but I suppose the best team did win in the end.

It was an entertaining game considering. I was surprised that Germany substituted Garefreckes in the 75th minute. She was creating a lot of chances up the right side. Birgit Prinz assisted on Meinert's goal and should have set up the game winner with 10 minutes left. However #7 (don't remember her name) bricked a wide open shot on goal from 2 metres out. As far as the USA having the best team, I think Germany was more deserving. The sports writer for the local paper here in San Diego picked Germany to win the cup before it started.

Just like the best team won in 1999, the best team DID also win the WWC in 2003.

    The Germans are better. Period.
