So if you're into teenage ultras, this is a nice video to watch: 96 in Bremen
video is no longer available and are ultras really so "teenage"? At the moment most of Freiburg's ultra-scene consists of guys around my age...But the main group (who mostly have a SV) are guys in their late 20's... The ultra movement in Germany is fairly young, so just wait in some years and it won't look like such a youth thing. When you look at the Italian or French ultra scene...that have been going around for many years now...Many of those guys can be anywhere from 17-40 years old...I'd say mostly in the 20's though. Still working for me. And yes here in hannover most of fans in black clothes and sun-glasses are about 16-20.
yah for us it looks like that too at the moment. I guess it's only natural for something like Ultras culture to be an attaction to younger people but...I can't see these guys quitting when they turn 25 now so it will look a lot different in a few years.
In Stuttgart ultras are anywhere between the age of 15 to like 35-40. Average age if probably about 23-25. but I liked sportfriend's point about the German ultra scene being fairly young, it's existed for little over 10 years, and probably the young ages will move up as members get older, like in Italy. But either I don't see a problem with age, anyone who's willing to devote 34 weekends a year and more behind the scenes to supporting VfB Stuttgart gets a big plus in my book EDIT: and of coruse same goes for all other teams.
exactly! wonderful post and all my friends know that if i could i would be right there with them. The Ultra culture is great. Travelling to all the matches together, supporting your team like it's a religion (it is for me ) making choreos...it's just a lot of fun, a brotherhood that might never die. i miss it a lot (well minus the whole going to every game because obviously i can't do that - but if i lived there...it'd be a different story) Ultras per sempre!!!
Time to try and bring this thread back to life Some nice moments this weekend: Eintracht Frankfurt Choreo against VfB Stuttgart: Hamburger SV's group 'Poptown' celebrates it's 10-year anniversary versus Borussia Dortmund:
And MSV Duisburg had a fan protest again their then-manager Rudi Bommer on the weekend. Against Rot-Weiss Ahlen. By the way, you can argue that it worked since Bommer was fired after the game.
you cant see those pice if youre not a member of stadionwelt.de... But heres anmother picture of ours... EFC Rodgau I think the 3 big flags where used before for some other actions, still in the old Waldstadion...
Haha I knew it... Eintracht vs SSV Ulm, May 2000 The UF have a nice overview of all Choreos within the last 10 years... here
partizan in stuttgart... i don't wanna say Grobari because i have no idea how many Grobari there actually are in there but seems pretty decent!
There were 200, 300 Grobari from Serbia (cause of visa problems and bans) . The others were so called "Gastarbeiters" from Germany, Switzerland, Holland... plus PAOK fan club from Stuttgart. UF had some great choreos through the years.
Well, I don't exactly have a video or pictures to share but I don't feel like opening a new thread for my experience with some Ultras this weekend. So yesterday I was waiting for a good friend in front of the central station. It was about 2 hours before kickoff of the 96 - Stuttgart match. While walking through the station I didn't see any policemen anywhere which is kinda unusual because normally there are tons of riot police present but I guess they didn't consider this matchup to be a high risk one. So I went to the meeting place and noticed a group of Ultras Hannover standing to my left (about 7 or 8). I turned right and suddenly a group of Ultras from Stuttgart (about 20) come running towards me screaming and running towards the group of Hannover fans to my left. It was quite surreal to be honest. I wasn't afraid because I knew they were not after me but still weird. I have to admit that the Hannover Ultras ran away but they were quite outnumbered and seemed pretty surprised by the whole thing so I'm pretty sure it wasn't prearranged. Well, both groups met and fisticuffs ensued and out of nowhere riot cops appear and chase the Ultras through the city center. As far as I could tell the Ultras were faster though. Nobody seemed to suffer any serious injuries either. I know that some Ultras like to film their 'heroics' so if you happen to find a video of this be advised that the girl standing in the middle that gets overrun by the Suttgart Ultras is me. That's all. thanks for listening.
lol well if thats what makes them happy... ^^ Eintracht Fans getting ready for the game in Karlsruhe next week... www.efcrodgau.de
I somehow doubt they were ultras as 1) I don't know of any Stuttgart ultras group that would only consist of 20 people and also 2) don't know why any travelling ultras would be separate from all the other travelling ultras. Not to mention Commando Cannstatt, Schwabensturm etc. all are taken to the stadium from whatever stations they arrive at, by a police group. Pretty much always the case. So i'm guessing Fraeulein these may well have just been a small number of dumb assholes not actually affiliated with any VfB ultra groups. Then again I might be wrong. At least you're alright.
Could very well be since I don't really know any Suttuttgart's Ultras. They certainly looked the part without scarfs and all wearing the "Ultra uniform" if you know what I mean. Maybe they were aspiring Ultras and trying to prove themselves. Lol: God, I really hope this Ultra thing is over soon or at least the development goes into a different direction. While I respect their enthusiasm I don't like what I see and hear in most stadiums.
I disagree. I feel you can have a lively fan-scene that fights for fan rights, atmosphere, anti-racism without imitating all that stupid Ultra stuff from Italy to a T with flag-natching, wearing only black, waving your flags 90 minutes no matter the score or the amount of fans and trying to look intimidating even though fat, small looking 17-year old middle class kids scare nobody (at least not me). I always feel embarrassed watching riot cops having to escort these „Kniet nieder Ihr Bauern XY ist zu Gast!“ -kids through the city. Like I said I admire their enthusiasm but a lot of them take themselves far too seriously, think their are better than other fans and in the end they are just as uniformed and unoriginal as everyone they despise. When those Bremen-Nazi fans were forced out of the block in Bochum it was not the Ultras who did it but the "Kutten".
http://www.stpauli-forum.de/viewtopic.php?t=55882&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 Well, I'm not surprised. Imo not all but a lot of German Ultras have elitist tendencies. Like I wrote before, just watch "Die Welle". In the beginning they had a good thing in mind but in the end their arrogance, elitism and sens of entitlement made it impossible to support them. At least finally a lot of people are starting to see the light and even greater that it happened at St Pauli of all clubs. How can you not see that "forced" solidarity is wrong? How? How can you not feel uneasy "forcing" your beliefs on other people? I never got it and never will and that's why I have always been very critical of the German Ultra Scene and I doubt this will ever change.
This. We don't need them. The ULTRA scene is active destroying the free space the clubs are giving their fans. There will be no Stehplätze any more in the future when this continue.
