Thread to track the development of senior level players in the Bundesliga and abroad for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
Kevin Volland off to a productive start at his new club Leverkusem, scoring a hat-trick in Sunday's test match. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...reierpack---volland-schon-gut-integriert.html While Mark Uth bagged a brace during the second half of Hoffenheim's friendly. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...tikel_uth-laeuft-bei-wagner-debuet-heiss.html
Hannover have officially signed Niclas Füllkrug from FCN to a new 4-year contract until 2020. They've added quite a bit of depth already this summer, and H96 look like early favorites for the promotion battle to jump back into the first division. https://www.hannover96.de/aktuelles...-fuellkrug-kehrt-in-seine-heimat-zurueck.html
Do they really need Fullkrug? I wonder They have plenty of strikers Will Cedric Teuchert make a step forward?
Teuchert will probably take 2-3 years of development to reach a consistent higher level. The kid is still 19. He's at a good club right now though. FCN have been effective at nurturing young talents, and will look towards him as an important player for the future.
Volland continues his fine pre-season form and is developing good team chemistry with Chicharito and Bellarabi in the attack. In their recent friendly against TuS Koblenz, Volland bagged a brace with both assists delivered by Bellarabi. Brandt also scored their fourth goal. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...-harmoniert-mit-bellarabi-und-chicharito.html
I can see Volland thriving in the Leverkusen system. They have a well balance squad with players like Chicharito, Bellarabi, Brandt, Calhanoglu, Kampl, Aranguiz, etc who are all agile and can link up on attacking sequences. Öztunali won't be a starter right now but his return will give them additional depth on multiple coverage.
Füllkrug scores a brace on his H96 debut as they draw 3-3 against Hallescher FC. https://www.hannover96.de/aktuelles...982-33-spannendes-unentschieden-in-halle.html
From the match ratings of Hertha's EL qualifiers vs Brondby: Mitchell Weiser : 2 Mitchell Weiser was against Bröndby one of the most striking players on the pitch. The 22-year-old not only assisted the goal to go ahead 1: 0 and win, but also had a good header opportunity. On the right side there were always dangerous actions and had good passing plays with Ibisevic. http://www.90min.com/de/posts/35322...-broendby-if-die-berliner-in-der-einzelkritik
I'm not sure that's correct. I only watched them sporadically, but Pekarik only played in 12 matches; and he's who steps in at RB when Weiser plays further forward. It seem liks Weiser actually started more games on at RB than RW, though he did play RW more in the final parts of the season.
I must be thinking mostly of the second half of the season. I didn't watch a ton of Hertha matches, but he was mostly a winger in the ones I did see.
Yeah that was my impression as well until I looked it up. Seems like that was something they turned to in the second half of the season...probably to strengthen their defensive prowess once their luck in front of goal started to dry up, as Weiser-Pekarik is much stronger defensively than Haraguchi-Weiser.
Draxler says that he wants to leave Wolfsburg. Earlier rumors had him linked to Arsenal. Considering that he arrived last summer for 35 Mio, they'll most likely want at least 50 Mio for his release. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...kel_draxler-kontert-hecking_ich-will-weg.html
Ter Stegen gives Barcelona an ultimatum, either they make him their #1 keeper or else he leaves. http://www.transfermarkt.de/ter-stegen-stellt-barca-ultimatum-nummer-1-oder-wechsel/view/news/245001
Latest update on Draxler-gate. He has to stay at Wolfsburg according to the club. There is no contract to leave in 2016, but he can leave for 75 Million in 2017. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...der-vfl-wird-draxler-nicht-transferieren.html
Volland's goal against Real Sociedad. He leads Leverkusen in scoring for summer friendlies with 6 goals total. http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/bayer-leverkusen/starke-generalprobe-47305820.bildMobile.html
I hope Volland plays well this upcoming season and than plays at next year's Confederations Cup as to have 2 strikers on the team for the WC 18. In other news, Mustafi who I think is pretty meh when playing for Germany, he was the weak link back in WC 14 until he got injured might transfer to Arsenal.
