    No hits from those guys.
And I don't like their music that much, pretty boring indie stuff, but in my opinion they have some of the best german song titles (and lyrics) ever (zB. "Ich möchte Teil einer Jugendbewegung sein", "Ich wünschte ich würde mich für Tennis interessieren" oder "Über Sex kann man nur auf Englisch singen").
So it's kind of funny to listen to them, but I won't say that they rock.

But I like "Wir sind Helden" a lot, so maybe I'm not the best adviser for you ;)

    I don't think so.
I never had any music television so I can't tell you if their videos are being played there.

@ Mattbro: The only hit that comes into my mind would be 'this boy is Tocotronic', which was played by MTVIVA a couple of times, but that wasn't an outstanding song anyways.
Nice is the hommage by WIZO - Ich hab mit Tocotronic..., but only if you like Tocotronic off course.
But anyways, you can't compare Tocotronic to the Sportfreunde Stiller, since they actually know how to use voice and instruments while die Sportfreunde only know how to make funny lyrics (which I like to hear though ;-) ) You can't compare Tocotronic to any German band anyways, I would say, just try them ;-)

You'll love it down here. :)

Anyone know the song "Verdammt Lang Her" by Bap? There was also another song I liked called "Jraduss." The singer had the coolest voice but the lyrics were hard to understand. I think they were in dialect or something. This was back in the 80s when I could actually communicate (somewhat) in German.

I'm no fan of BAP, but if you're forcing me to listen to Kölsche music give me them over die Höhner any day - good god they suck!

What I like about German music is that there appears to be a German equivalent for many of the big American stars.

For example Wolfgang Niedecken is like the German Bob Dylan!

And Peter Maffay is like the German Springsteen - short and muscular, and he appeals to the working man!

Wolfgang Petry is in a league of his own!

Last night I saw what appeared to be the new Rammstein video. It is pretty entertaining. They are all dressed in these fat suits, rocking out in a warehouse. Of course it wouldn't be Rammstein without a message: there's a scene where the singer is sitting in a limo surrounded by all these beautiful women making out with each other. And of course he can't havy any, because he's too fat!

The song itself was pretty forgettable: it's basically a pretty modern sound, with the guitarist thrashing out the chords in that post-grunge, nu metal style. The drums have a hint of that horrible, ear-splitting St. Anger tone, although not nearly as bad. From what I've heard so far, the new album definitely does not much up to, say, Mutter.

There are some excellent songs on Reise, Reise (the title track, Mein Teil, Dalai Lama, Morgenstern, Stein um Stein) but also some forgettable ones.

    My favorite is still Sehnsucht.
