according to a lot of reps, Miroslav Klose might become coach of club that launched his career FCK who are in 3rd Liga.

could see FCK has launching pad of both his pro player and pro coach careers.

Love to see Klose eventually coaching the NT to another championship.

Marcel Schmelzer announced his retirement. A player that's had injury issues and ultimately out of the picture for many years now. But was a member of Dortmund from start to end of his career, and a part of their 2010-11 and 2011-12 Bundesliga title seasons. Fwiw also represented the German NT in 16 appearances

only goal to beat Kahn in 2002 WC until final. Do admit it was a good one.

Schmelzer didn't feel comfortable with the national team
Schmelzer would describe the circle of the national team as a kind of shark tank. "It's possible that the rivalry in the individual positions was also practiced in other Bundesliga clubs. I just didn't know that from BVB," reports the left-back, adding: "I never had any joy there. Before that in the U 21 - that was a nice year under Horst Hrubesch, winning the European Championship, that was mega, that was fun. Later, in the senior national team, I never enjoyed being there - and didn't really feel comfortable."

Atmosphere of U21 under Hrubesch, Kuntz and Di Salvo looks to be really fun.
But Senior NT under Low never gave a good vibe. It was clowns like Muller and Podolski who made diff.

wasn't there mention that both in WC18 and EC2020 was locker room issues? On top of whole Erdogan thing too.

That's why he "absolutely" thinks back to his comparatively short career in the national team with a stomach ache.

Schmelzer: “In the national team you are said 'hello' in a different way by your competitors than by the other players; the training is also different. I had a hard time with that at first. I felt uncomfortable.”

Which was also due to the lack of support from the coach. Schmelzer: "In addition, Löw said twice publicly that he was forced to work with me."

The support in the U21s, with which Schmelzer became European champion in 2009, was different. "That was a nice year under Horst Hrubesch, winning the European Championship, that was mega, that was fun."

Schmelzer was a national player from 2010 to 2014, but was not nominated for the World Cup in Brazil and thus missed out on winning the title. His teammate at the time, Erik Durm (30), drove in his place.

A decision that he couldn't understand at the time: "Even if the non-nomination was incomprehensible to me at the time after I'd played all ten qualifying games: I'm done with that. As much as that bothered me and as unfair as I thought it was at the time – at some point I had to focus on Borussia Dortmund again.”

There he was later promoted to captain, winning the championship twice and the cup three times. Schmelzer ended his career a few weeks ago due to a protracted knee injury.

If any footballer could be considered Löw's nemesis, it would most definitely be Stefan Kießling. He was consistently one of the the best strikers in the Bundesliga yet Löw always ignored him.

The 4th of July is best known as the American Independence Day, but it's of particular importance to German football because it marks the first World Cup title win.

Do you know, that Fring from Breaking bad was named after Torsten Frings? I guess the 2002 clash of USA and Germany may played a role.

What a legend, a shame he couldn't lift the trophy in '66.

    R.I.P. Herr Seeler.

I previously mentioned that he only won one German Championship which was pre-Bundesliga and a DFB-Pokal throughout his entire career. That's very little silverware for a player as legendary as Uwe Seeler.

HSV's most glorious moments was between 75-83....too bad missed out.

also sucks for him, never got to see HSV back in 1BL......
