German Fraulein National Team 2020 & beyond

The team captain Zähringer was missing for the semi final, but overall Germany's back 3 was able to keep Austria at an arms length.

I'm sure Maas placed withn a back 4 is going to be a really good CB one day. Like alot of CB's though, she does struggle being pushed to defend the wings, but everywhere else is technically impressive, agressive, possessing a strong baseline of athleticism.

The wingbacks are truly the stars of this team though. Memminger, Sträßer, Eggert, Zimmermann, litrally the best attackers within this squad, while still being incredibly defensively responsible too.

I do wonder what these wing back would look like within a conventional back 4, or in Zimmerman's case if she'll actually play as a wide forward/striker during her club career...

No Wrede, Behringer is starting Gmeineder in the teams other CM role. But next to a very similar player like Schneider, it see's this team lacking a clear match tempo controlling element.

Missing Rückert, I'm not even convinced any of Germany's current selection of u19 attackers hold any credible experience outside of this team within forward roles lol.

Portella in a forward role still plays like a very basic CAM, while Ritzner just looks more like a talented energetic box to box AM. Böner used as a #9, but is constantly most effective using her speed and dribbling out wide.

It's disapointing how much Behringer's system doesn't allow these players to showcase their true potential. The 3-4-3/3-5-2 not really suited to Germany's years of player development.

What this u19 Euro team reveals, is the senior wnt is eventually going to have a list of strong CB options, with the FB options potentially overloaded with extra depth.

Wrede still the only u19 level player who's ready to compete for a position on the senior wnt. I will say there's also lot of players within this squad being deployed in roles that likely have nothing to do with their long term senior wnt hopes.

Many of these girls will leave Behringer's team, and become very different players at club and the u23 level.

 

I just realised last year's Euro's finals was the qualification process for the next u20 world cup...

This explaining why an increadibly underwhelming German u19's would reach a Euro's final in a tournament, featuring opponents like Austria, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland lol.

The late realization Germany already missed u20 WC qualification, again placing more focus on why Wrede was wasting time taking part in this year u19's..

Like I said all last season, Wrede already one of the leagues best mid-fielders, should have been promoted to the u23's.

If this latest cycle of u19's is simply Behringer's preparation process for the next attempt to qualify for a u20 WC... there was absolutely ZERO reason for Wrede to be part of her u19 plans.

Not when it's clear Wrede the one u19 player who will 100% be playing at a higher wnt level next season.

 

Well... Germany lose the u19 Euro Final to Spain 0-1.

Germany managed to generate a huge total of 1 shot, and 1 shot on target over 90 mins. In the same amount of mins, Spain would manage 23 total attempts, 11 on target...

It's obvious Germany's pool of talent can not support a single coach randomly using a very tactically underwhelming 3-4-3, making the decision to allow Behringer to oversee the u19's highly confusing.

Spain winning their 5th consecutive u19 tournament, with a team that directly mirrors their senior women, and their men's program too.

Unfortunately we have Germany's wnt program pushing players through each age group with coaches all using system completely independent from each other...

U16's use 4-1-4-1
U17's use 4-4-2
U19's use 3-5-2
U23's use 4-2-3-1
Senior wnt using a mix of 4-3-3/4-2-4

The lack of continuity on display here is shocking lol. But this is what was alwyas going to happen when you decide to split a program between Neid and Küzner...

 

If the wnt program could give their players a clear tactical foundation for success, these younger wnt's would be contenders in so many more tournaments.

The mentality to play to the very end is genuinely commendable. Regardless of the tactical ineptitude of their coaches, so many of these young wnt's able to remain in so many games they should lose by wide margins.

Factors I still find it highly concerning, is seeing something like Behringer's use of Maas as a striker in the final 20 mins of 2nd half; as it appearing to me like an admission of her inability to select a system that actually enhances the talent within her squad.

See... at u17 level, once the coach recognized her teams various deficiencies during qualifying, she adjusted the system for the finals to hide the lack of offensive depth, while focusing on being a more defensively stable as a overall unit.

So where was this ability to adjust with Behringer..?

This to me making more sense for the players selected.

With the limited atracking options, this for me the best possible forward line.

Being so rigid within a 3-4-3 when it so many of these young players are obvious out of their natural positions, is so unesssary.

As a result of today’s discussion, no UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership.

Watching the latest documentary series, it's another reminder just how much work Wück still has to establish an effective mid-field and attack.

He managed to stumble into finding elite FB's with Kett, and Wamser, while having Müller with Gonzalez waiting for their opportunity too.

Next up though is establishing a clear partnership at CB. Küver the most talented German CB, but not working effectively alongside Knaak (his most experienced CB); both players also operating best through the left channel.

I see Knaak/Küver -- Minge/Kleinherne 100% being joined by Landenberger this season, plus a still unkown 6th CB option.

But wow... the mid-field is absolutely desperately waiting on the return of Oberdorf along side options like Alara, Piljic, Wrede, Mühlhaus, Lattwein, truly proving themselves legitimate competitors to Nüsken.

 

Probably the biggest question is what happens when almost all your offensive talent plays outside of Germany, but unable to receive regular playing time...?

Bühl - Hoffmann - Bender the main names still in the domestic league. Endemann/Brand - Cerci/Anyomi/Schüller - Baum (not counting Kössler, or Martinez) all in foriegn leagues.

What happens to the bias wnt coaches have for individuals playing in foriegn leagues, when these players no longer meeting requirements of being regular starters at club level...?
