Slovakia scores on an fast break because what else, there’s only one CB back there defending 3-2 at the 60th mark apparently Lotta did start but was out when I started watching, hopefully she didn’t have an major injury as why she’s been taken out already
U19 Euro qualification 2nd round. Germany 4 : 2 (2:1) Slovakia 1' Portella - 14' Rumančlkova 27' Schick 45' Eggert - 59' Havalec 85' Rückert Group 6pts Germany 4pts France 1pts Rep of Ireland 0pts Slovakia
If anyone gets the opportunity, watch Rosa Rückert's insane back heel goal on 85 mins... WOW... I've said since the first round, Lotta Wrede should not be part of the u19's, and today she'd leave the game early after getting injured, with the team getting BETTER without her. I'm thinking this might be the best overall performance by a Behringer coached u19 team; and with France drawing with Rep of Ireland, she's now in a prime position to finally qualify for a Euro finals.
Wrede should really be playing with the senior team, or at least the u23's. More than enough CM talent existing for a competent coach to create a strong balanced mid-field without the pressence of a individual star. The fact Wrede injured now, forcing Behringer to deploy the various talent who should have always been seeing match time at this level of football. I also notice how all 3 CB's continue to struggle defending, whenever forced to move into spaces they'd typically receive cover from FB's within back 4. Leaving me to ask... can Behringer see this... Even offensively things don't make sense. Portella an AM with Bayern's B team, Rückert a forward with Stuttgart in 2.Bundesliga, both appearing to be better attacking players than Kopp who regularly features for 1.Bundesliga Essen. Yet its Kopp who remains a starter regardless of her ineffective qualities as a forward. Leaving questions about a coach who's allowed to implement a 3-5-2, as she struggles identifying skill sets that are best suited to work within her system. A host of these girls will go up to the u23's, and look significantly better than they will ever appear within Behringer's u19's... UEFA's site saying Germany created 31 attempts Vs Slovakia, 15 of those on target, it obvious there's some issues with efficiency when it comes to scoring goals lol. But conceding 2 goals from an opponent generating 7 attempts, 3 of those on target, speaking to the constantly flawed defensive nature of Behringer 3-5-2 system. So can Behringer find a final positive result Vs a traditional power like France, to qualify her first u19 team for a Euro finals during a u20 WC qualification cycle...?

Germany should win today against a sadly declining Austria, but hopefully Wuck will still push his squad in playing more faster paced, athletic & direct style as shown when they demolished Norway last outing …..and even if Austria decides to Bunker,
Küver is better than Knaak, Mühlhaus a better CAM than Dallmann. Dallmann the only other wide option in this squad is starting, meaning there's nothing on the bench. Austria will use their back 5 to sit deep and counter. Trying to get 1v1's against Knaak. EDIT: OK... I forgot this is a Derby game lol. Austria will not be sitting deep like they did Vs Norway lol
ZDF still trying to shoot games like a music video.. Constant close ups, weird changes of perspective... we get it, it's women playing.
Gwinn and Brand have been really poor during the opening phase of this game. Nothing being created centrally yet either. And this facing a Austia only deploying a mid block press.
1-0 Germany. Knaak header saved from the corner, seeing Minge have her close range follow up saved, before Anyomi scrambles the ball in right on the goal line.
Swap Küver for Knaak, add Bühl to the left, with both Oberdorf, Wrede, taking over from Nüsken, and Dallmann... I think Germany might be able to create a legit WC contender starting 11...
Anyomi looks hurt... should be interesting to see who replaces her come the 2nd half. Do they still ignore Cerci, and put Schüller in. Or do we see a significantly worse Martinez get game time again...?
The mediocre run of form for Gwinn continues... substituted out after 33 mins for Wamser. Knaak just prevented a 1v1 with Berger lol. Yeah... this hasn't been a great 35 mins.
Kett really needs to learn how to shoot. Her movement and speed allows her to reach areas she should be assisting and scoring way more goals. She develops a shot, she'll instantly take her status to a next level of elite defender, and dangerous attacker.
Austria are just being physically agressive, and doing everything possible to force Germany's attack to go out wide, probably confident they can deal with crosses. Germany's lack of creativity in central areas coming back to hurt them Vs a tactically disciplined Austria.
Knaak can not defend skillful forwards who poses speed 1v1. All season she's seen yellows cards not being able to handle this in the WSL. And having the PTSD of the Euro's witnessing Knaak be exposed defending elite/not so elite forwards, I'd like to believe she no longer starting games come the WC.
HT:1-0 a very underwhelming half for Germany, and not even with them facing an opponent trying to deploy a low block. The CM lacking creativity (this a long standing issue), I'd like to believe Mühlhaus in AM could help controlling tempo, and generating chances from central areas. Today we're witnessing why it important Germany upgrades it CM's over time; as Dallmann is physically outmatched, while Nüsken will never be a CM who can dictate tempo through her passing. Austria have also shut down the wings, knowing Germany are not going to find success crossing high balls towards Anyomi. It's funny... but this probably a game where Brand in mid-field, and Dallmann wide right, would also work better overall for the team lol.
Germany unable to exploit Austria with counter attacks, it requires more quality build up play to create chances through highly conjested central areas of the field. If Wück wants to avoid another embrassment, I think it wise he tells his mid-field to move the ball quicker, either running with it to evade the press, or taking less touches. Austria aren't going to stop being physical. And as long as Germany don't match this intensity, the danger is Austria steal something from a game Germany should be looking to win comfortably...
