The girls might have to learn the hard way, if you slack with the concentration, you can be punished. Let's see if they can switch that gear back up. Good learning lesson.
I figured it be a toss up. My pre game analysis had Germany playing with a more intense high press, but it didn’t quite materialize. There’s probably couple of reasons for it; knowing that it could possible 120 minute game, it would have been too exhausting..,and also US philosophy always been; stay safe by NOT keeping the ball derp back into your territory with endless back passing(as an way to keep possession) I thought the US would start the Afro speed burner(Dudley) first, since she should able to run right passed slow poke Veit. But I did get right that right FB Gisele Thompson would be roving around all over the field , and thus needed to get the ball over to Zacai as quick as possible. I also mentioned that thanks to an very deep bench, the US will get stronger as the game progresses. Both teams were missing some of their best youth players, and I do expect the US to loose to N Korea. Still not getting why arguably the two top ranked teams, Japan & Spain, were forced to each other so easily on? “
All tournament I said Germany's defensive shape was bad, with the USA most likely to exploit this obvious weakness to win a match between these two sides. But losing two goals in added time...
Gloning would do well Vs USA, with it being unfair for me to criticise a typically playing CB Schneider, or a typically playing DM Diehm, for doing their best in unusual roles. But damn... Veit, wow... If something positive can come out of this tournament for her, it's surely a harsh reality of her needing to leave Frankfurt, to finally experience the regular senior team club football that allows her to mature/develop her game Even with a mid-field that saw an impressive offensive minded CAM like Sehitler being deployed as a DM Pivot role..., it was the individual defensive errors that saw this team needing to outscore their opposition, would be the same root course of the late capitulation vs a very beatable USA... But Bender once again showcased why alongside good health, she'll continue on her trajectory towards being a senior team player soon, with Zicai providing evidence to suggest Germany might have another impressive wing option in the not so distant future... So overall I can't be too disappointed with what I saw from this u20 team, as the coaching that's leads them continues to be truly underwhelming; meaning regardless of individual quality, it just felt like a huge positive to see them escape the group stage lol.
Due to competition at their clubs, Gloning, and Veit, for different reasons will most likely need to find new homes if their going to reach their full potential. Deihm still doesn't look like a credible CB option either, and will likely move back to be a far better DM for the rest of her career. Sehitler's best talents were wasted as a DM by Peter, but she'd still be the best mid-fielder in this team over the duration of the u20 tournament, making me believe she posses the adaptability to eventually find her way into regular rotation within Bayern's 1st team. Bender continues to demonstrate moments of offensive quality that will see her evolve into a legit wide forward at club level, and one day soon the wnt. The only concern attached to Bender though being her general fitness, as she's spent most of her young career constantly missing matches through various types of muscle strains... Plus while I didn't look at this tournament validating the quality of Germany's players, I have to admit now the other big surprise during this tournament for me probably coming with the displays of Zicai, and Zdebel; as these were two players I'd typically view as highly inconsistent individuals who rarely shine for their clubs, but now among the brightest elements of the u20's various displays during this tournament.
This is just my personal opinion... but if this is just Krumbiegel playing as a RB for Juve, it's honestly no different than her wasting time playing RB for Hoffenheim... Krumbiegel originally speaking about leaving Hoffenheim in the hopes she could find more game as a attacker, while playing for a club closer to regular UWCL football. It's hard to look at her in the same situation as she found within Hoffenheim, and pretend it's different now because she's a 2nd choice RB option in Italy, and not a 2nd choice RB in Germany anymore. Krumbiegel's already shown she's able to score goals, and if anybody paying attention we've seen some of these being very special goals too. But defending as a FB lol... she's terrible. Meaning until this defensive weakness changes, or Krumbiegel starts to play well in a wide forward role, I don't personally see how she has any realistic future within Wück's future wnt...
@luka74 off thread, sorry but Senarmi is wrong for Australia. He’s just another old school coach that doesn’t keep up with the ever changing, new dynamics in woso. Has had no major success, even led Orlando Pride to last place in the NWSL! Hard ti believe there’s no new coaches to choose from, lol well at least, never heard of Wuck, might be an good choice for Germany!
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has announced her intention of coming back to football, saying for personal reasons she doesn't want to continue her coaching career in Germany (understandable lol) And personally being someone who always felt MVT a far better club coach than a international coach, for her sake I hope the next coaching role she takes allows her to rehabilitate her reputation, rather than head straight back into the slow burn furnace of the international scene again...
I've said the same thing as Wück, and genuinely believe Popp could continue to be an elite player until her mid 30's. So I hope she decides to play for at least one more year, as I'm also convinced with her part of the next Euro's team, Wück could finally be the quality of coach to help elevate her and the wnt towards lifting a major international trophy.
Having given Peter unparalleled support to try and shape her u20 team into a position they wouldn't produce another embracement at another WC, Künzer was in Colombia watching u20's showcasing a level of supervision and inspection from the DFB we've not seen with any prior junior wnt. So it will be interesting to see what Künzer's final assessment looks like now, knowing she a major reason for Germany restarting their u23's, having seen her openly speculate on Germany not being able to qualify for future u20 WC finals. Even if Neid tries to fight this... with everything Künzer has seen, I have a VERY hard time believing Peter at her current level of coaching quality will remain the coach of u19/20/23's.... The u23's probably better served as a separate entity from the u19/20's, with Wück potentially using this as his B/C team...
Well why don't you correct me, and provide the damn evidence of what I said here that was incorrect... Because when I see stuff like this... "because I don't want to go abroad. That doesn't fit into my current life situation. I enjoy spending time with my family. I haven't had enough of that over the last 40 years," "I no longer have to be in the front row. I am currently dealing with questions that would never have even occurred to me in my mid-40s. How much pressure of expectations, pressure to achieve results and mental pressure do I still want in my life? Thanks to my decades of experience, I can also imagine a job as a consultant," "I just cried, couldn't think clearly or answer any questions. I was empty. There was nothing left, there was nothing inside me," It sure sounds like quite a few personal reasons why MVT didn't want to continue her coaching career in Germany.
@Lohmann in case this is a scenario of being lost in translation... MVT doesn't sound like she wants to continue coaching in Germany, but I personally would like to see her continue her coaching career, but only in club football. MVT saying she wants to return to football, but again... I think it would be a shame for her to dismiss coaching players anymore, allowing her legacy to be defined by her time as a international coach, when her club career was so much more impressive.
The evidence was in the Juv/Como highlights video Blissett posted, the Italians are afraid nobody will show up in the stands
LOL... I guess Germany are really determined to host a major international event for women.. Failing to win the vote to host a WWC, they've jumped straight onto wanting to host the 2029 Euro's. And honestly... after seeing the garbage WWC joint bid they sent to FIFA, and hearing news about the break away domestic league is still moving forward, I think the 2029 Euro's would be a far better option for the DFB to handle.
