Well I saw that Gustavsson already resigned, but his contract was going to expire anyways. Casey Stoney been touted as the new coach, but she was let go by the San Diego club for sub par current season(so don’t see her as an savior) Australia stuck in a Catch-22 situation as being so isolated, their top players got to go overseas for better competition, but then this leads to their own domestic league being weaker & lacking leadership or protege experience that the newbies need to strive on. Remembering reading that AUS was an emergency crisis as unlike last decade, there’s no new upcoming ‘Golden Generation’ to depend. But the huge home crowds, at least the Matilda’s been experiencing, should mean potential more participation interest for the future yeah, surprised how well the US doing(considering the self doubts from last year’s WC), with the upcoming young talent that I’ve seen coming up now in the NWSL, got to say ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet”—-anybody else an BTO fan? llol
I wouldn't call Sheridan a national team veteran, she is "only" 29 and was long in the shadows of older and better keepers for Canada. Either way, I think Frohms and Berger are better keepers.
Hrubesch says Hegering will return for the match Vs Canada, but the news surrounding Hendrich sounds like she actually suffered some form of concussion from her clash with Banda (she was having issues with her vision...), which in my opinion places a little doubt on her being allowed to start the next match. Schüller also says she chose to leave the field Vs Zambia due to her feeling some pain in her shoulder, but expects to be certified healthy to start the next match. While the continued health condition of Linder still seems rather unclear... The "sickness" supposedly preventing Linder from having any role in the teams last two matches, has it hard to believe we'll see her will return for the match Vs Canada as a starter. But seeing how Rauch has played so far, I think this team gets a legitimate upgrade down the left with Linder coming back into a first choice at LB role.
Inka Grings also decided to give her opinion on Germany's Olympic run, and states Hrubesch's Germany will be second best to Canada, suggesting their disappointingly weak in attack..., saying they should be much stronger in 1v1 football, with this making them a limited side at the top level of international football. Her analysis sounding like she's not actually comparing Germany to other teams right now, but instead choosing to target her analysis on one incredibly poor tactical display Vs USA. But ignoring her own poor time as an international coach, knowing Grings would also never say a word about Germany under Jones, or MVT, I will agree with her notion this current team could still do more in attack.... even if it's the one area of the team that's been consistently effective under Hrubesch. No mention of the issues with defence, no opinion on the unbalanced nature of the mid-field, no talk of the general tactics/formation. As a former world class forward it might make most sense for Grings to only talk about the condition of Germany's current attack. But as a international coach, her take on current Germany does appear rather limited in it's scope... I mean... take away Germany's attack, and they're a far worse side than the WC team, no? But Grings clearly has her own agenda here, having been one of the previous candidates to get the German wnt head coaching job, only for Künzer to step in late and get her wnt a huge upgrade in Wück lol. So we'll see... Grings, describing Canada as a team hungry for goals not how I see their style of play. But it will be a tough game, that outside of attacking play I'm convinced will be decided by how both teams contest mid-field.
Sheridan a previous NWSL ‘goalkeeper of the year’ recipient, Berger could be running for that award this year. Looks like Schult heading to the NWSL too via Kansas City If it’s a Germany/USA rematch & headed toward PK’s, wonder if Horst will sub in Frohms in the last minute?—as Emma would know every little thing about Berger since she coached her for several years at Chelsea m. Though to be honest, I cant remember seeing either one of them in an PK shootout before
hmm……. this is the German NT thread & not another endless patronizing Nutty-shiko one! I did however hype Japan already at the US thread as “very disciplined” “nerves of steel” “ don’t buckle under pressure” “hit you with a surprise or two”. Just feel should of picked Sugita & Muira for the squad
@blissett just finished an 5K race, so cant watch the game myself, but there’s some serious concern on the US forum side that they aren’t matching up well, so maybe an now panicked US side will give those “nerves of steel” Nadeshiko the opportunity to win
Well, off-topic here, but US dominated possession and basically had no chance except a way wide Sophia Smith's shot; Japan won some possession only in the last 15' of the 1st Half, but they had two square chances (especially one with Moriya) and could have scored. Let's see what happens in this 2nd Half.

could add South America for semis, Spain’s siesta lovin coach yet to wake her team, 2-0 Colombia 73th minute
Linder not being healthy enough for the bench for all this time is crazy... her tournament appearing to be over regardless of what happens today... But should anybody be surprised anymore to see Hrubesch persist with the exact same team, despite the options on the bench many feel are better....? Anyway, hopefully it's a 4-3-3 today, and no more 4-2-4/4-4-2.
German players wanting too many touches right now, but early it good too see Germany looking to set a high tempo Mid-field just needs to gain some control
Ughhhhhh Schüller misses another major chance.... She HAS to do better. Germany's mid-field balance is still ass lol... not one of them able to control play. But offensively they always have enough quality to generate clear chances.
Schüller isn't playing very well so far.... And I think Popp is the DM Pivot in this game...? Popp's passing sometimes... yikes! She can see where it's meant to go, but the weight is always heavy.
The space centrally for Canada's best player can't happen... No mid-fielders close to her when she receives the ball on the edge of the box is unacceptable And it would be nice to see Ruach actually complete a tackle...
Germany's mid-field starting to get control now, but the attack so far has been unable to take any one of the clear chances.
