Arrrgh, sorry....misread your post...thought you meant the UEFA Cup final 2002......Liverpool-Alaves. Sorry.

    BVB-Liverpool is still cool.

I would have to disagree on your statement about there only being three big clubs outside of London, (Man Utd , Newcastle and Liverpool), there are other traditional big clubs, who although don't have the countrywide support of the three you mentioned, regularly draw big crowds. Some have very outdated stadiums which were built in the 20's and 30's and with the ripping out of terracing, drastically reduced their capacity. So for example a stadium that could hold around 50,000, now holds about 35,000. The sort of clubs i mean are clubs like Aston Villa and Everton who's grounds are both past their sell by date!
Also the average gate for BL1 may be higher than the prem, but here in England there is alot more fans "spread" round the divisions, if you know what i mean, with clubs like Sheffield Wednesday averaging 23,000 in the third division, also Hull City who average about 16,000 in the same division. Even Carlisle United in the non-league Conference (Div 5) average about 8,000. Obvious exceptions in the German lower leagues would be Braunschweig and St. Pauli i agree.
Also the statement about Spurs, Chelsea, and Arsenal sharing the audience in London is wrong.Yes they draw big crowds, but they dont speak for the whole of London. West Ham draw about 35,000 per game, Charlton about 25,000, Fulham (18,000), Crystal Palace (22,000), QPR (14,000), Millwall (11,000), Brentford (6,000), and Leyton Orient in div 4 (4,000). Berlin with its main clubs, (apart from Hertha) couldn't draw that sort of support.

I guess we'll see a new record next season should Köln get promoted and Gladbach staying in the league with Bochum, Rostock and Freiburg going down.

(unless Fürth get's promoted of course. But I guess they would have to play some games in Nuremberg)

Eintracht Frankfurt's new stadium will look nice; if they get promoted they will have a good attendance too.

It would also help if Hannover would lower it's prices and play soccer worth watching :)

That's about the number we get when our visitors don't travel well. Other than that, there's usually closer to 80,000 at the Westfalenstadion.

I rate the Premier League very high, but in attendance we are world champion. :)

    What did i read today:
    Moore from Gladbach to Newcastle.
    That´s a day to celebrate
one guy less in the league, who can´t play football. :D

The biggest stadium of a Premier Legue team is Old Trafford with about 70.000.

some numbers to matchday 1, according to kicker.de

    66000 at Schalke
    61210 at Bayern
    50000 in Cologne
    42000 in Frankfurt
    41877 in Hamburg
    40473 in Hannover
    38156 in Bremen
    28443 in Duisburg
    23368 in Wolfsburg

that adds up to 391527 and leads to an average attendance of 43503

not too bad, but Im sure there will be matchdays with higher numbers this upcoming season...

Hanover wasn't, we have a cap of 49k
I'd guess FCB, FCS, Köln and Frankfurt.
at www.stadiumwelt.de you can read what the cap of each stadium is though.
