He resigns after losing to the Greener's Boys in Green: http://www.ireland.com/sports/soccer/2003/0401/int6.htm ... APR 1st: Alexandre Chivadze has resigned as Georgia's coach on the eve of his team's Euro 2004 Group 10 home qualifier against Switzerlan. The Georgian soccer chief Merab Zhordania said today that: “Wednesday's game will be his last with the national team because Chivadze said he no longer wants the job,” Zhordania told local reporters. “He was very disappointed after losing to Ireland and wanted to quit right away, but we have persuaded him to stay for just one more game against the Swiss,” Zhordania added. “So, we will have to find a caretaker coach for our next European qualifier against Russia on April 30 and hopefully we will have a permanent coach in place after that.“ Chivadze did not talk to the media after a 2-1 home defeat by Ireland last Saturday. It left Georgia, who also lost 4-1 to Switzerland in their opener last September, bottom of the group with no points from two games. Chivadze only reluctantly agreed to coach the national team in June 2001 because no one else wanted the job. The 48-year-old former Soviet captain also coached Georgia from 1993 to 1996. ......
You have to feel sorry for the guy after hearing that he didn't even want the job...I almost feel guilty
Hopefully this doesn't mean they've given up on the qualifiers before they even play the Swiss and Russians at home.
