Anyone fancy the Georgians to knock some points off Russia?

I fancy the Georgians to get a point. This is a huge game for them and their fans.
In the game that was cancelled Georgia were playing well up to half time and had the better chances.
A nice draw for Georgia and I really fancy our chances in this group. Of course the two games in June are must wins.

    60 minutes gone. Still 1 - 0.
Russians attacking more now and leaving space at the back for the Georgians to counter.
A Georgian win would be such a good result for us and leave qualification possibilities completely in our hands.

85 minutes in, and still 1-0

at 75', Goalscorer Asatiani is withdrawn to strong applause as Georgia seek to hold on for the final 15 minutes with defender Givi Didava on in his place.
    75' Didava (in) - Asatiani (out)(Georgia )

Well done to Georgia...this is now a very open group especially with Russia and Switzerland still to play each other twice. Who knows who will qualify but Ireland has a good chance to top the group. It will come down to the final game in Switzerland...

That was a great result for Ireland, really we have to win the two Home games in June. Russia & Switzerland have to play twice, so it's hard to know what the best results from those two games are. I think we need to beat Russia in September with Russia & the Swiss to take points off each other, leaving the last game against Switzerland to determine if we can win the group or come second.

It's quite difficult to work out the best results for Ireland when it comes to the Russia V' Swiss games.

Draws in both I would have thought.

If - and that's a big word - Switzerland and Russia draw home and away with each other, and if (big word again) Ireland wins its next 2 games at home, Ireland would have 10 points along with Switzerland and Russia would have 8. I know the sequence of the games doesn't quite go like that, but, it gives an idea of the value of the Swiss and the Russians getting 2 points each, instead of 3 points each - for a home win and an away loss.

Failing the above scenario, the best results for Ireland would be 2 wins for Switzerland, leaving second place open.

an excellent result. two defeats in a row on the road for Russia now, they don't travel very well, which is also to our advantage. I watched highlights of the match and Georgia were good value for their win. I did notice the odd missile still being throw onto the pitch at the Russian players, no penknifes this time though.

I thought the game was supposed to be played behind closed doors?

Or was it the bench and coaching staff throwing the missiles? Or myabe the linesman.

I just love the fact that 3 of our last 4 games are at home...

Good luck Ireland, we'll try to take care of Russia for you.

The game was supposed to be played behind closed doors but UEFA reversed the decision and gave the Georgian FA a fine I think.
The Georgian FA's objection was they had already sold 11,000 tickets for the game so UEFA said they could let the 11,000 people in but were not allowed to sell anymore tickets.

Not exactly. UEFA allowed in those who still had their tickets from the abandoned game.
