Can you name the other ManU guys? I can name, George Best, Bobby Charlton, Nobby Stiles, Bill Foulkes, Denis Law ON THIS DAY: In 1968, Manchester United beat Benfica 4-1 to win the European Cup for the first time in their history.

The guy to the left of Bobby Charlton is Brian Kidd, who can be seen as part of Manchester City's coaching staff these days. Since you asked, from top row to bottom and left to right - Bill Foulkes (fairly sure he coached here in the US), John Aston I think, no idea who the reserve keeper was, Alex Stephney (he was in the US too I think, I'm too lazy to Google it though), no idea, David Herd - David Sadlier, two Irish lads Tony Dunne & Shay Brennan, Paddy Crerand, Bestie of course, no idea, no idea - Jim Ryan, Nobby Styles, Dennis Law, Matt Busby, Bobby Charlton, Brian Kidd, Johnny Fitzpatrick. I used to have this poster on my wall when I was a nipper in Dublin.
Bill Foulkes coached the Quakes during the 1980 season. He is seated in the middle between GK Mike Hewitt and George Best.
Didn't know that, thanks for the education. Grumpy oul bollix too he was, I'd George wasn't so keen on having him keep on eye on his shenanigans.
Bill Foulkes lasted the one year in San Jose and I only remember one incident where George was telling Bill what to do from the field. Then owner Milan Mandaric decided in mid season 1980 that he would make a coaching change. Not sure if Bill wanted to leave or not but either way, the next year Milan hired Jimmy Gabriel as coach.
Bill Foulkes and George Best never got along while Foulkes was coach of the Quakes. Foulkes was a "no nonsense" type of guy who had no use for any of Best's antics. I recall the Cosmos coming to town, after a couple of seasons of not playing in San Jose and everyone looking forward to seeing Best go against them. He was a no show for that game. It was very early in the season, maybe even the first game.
