    NASL Name on Back (NOB):

Forget the back of the shirt - the Fort Lauderdale Strikers sometimes struggled to keep the team nickname on the front of the shirt.

Happy 81st birthday to Ireland international Terry Mancini (number 14) alongside George Best (number 11) , the rugged defender who made 401 appearances for clubs like Watford (1961-66), Leyton Orient (1967-71), Queen's Park Rangers (1971-74) and Arsenal (1974-76), then transferred to the Los Angeles Aztecs for the 1977 season, scoring 3 goals in 26 games and helping Los Angeles reach the semifinal round of the NASL Playoffs.

GEOEGE BEST was a superb athlete.

As a footballer he has never been bettered and probably never will . George left the field far to soon .

The borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth is in the northern Warwickshire of England.

It is located adjacent to the county border with Leicestershire to the north-east.

    I've never been there.....

    Why?????

I'm not in any of the photos.....

Bobby McAlinden was a reserve team player with Man City and Port Vale.

Then he went to South Africa , moved back to England , quit the game and became a roofer.

McAlinden was friends with George Best through a mutual interest in gambling and George had the Los Angeles Aztecs sign him in 1976 which gave Bobby his second shot at being a professional.

He played with the Aztecs, Memphis Rouges and George brought him to the San Jose Earthquakes during the 1980-81 indoor season where he played in 18 games and scored 8 goals.

"George was great with me. He made me his teammate, his roommate, even his business partner.

I was best man at his wedding to Angie.

He did a lot for me.

I couldn't repay him for two lifetimes!"
