If anyone has links to streaming video of George Best, please post it. I know within the past year, someone posted a link to his famous goal for San Jose. It would be great to see some video of him from his ManU years.
Interesting that the one that Goodsport has posted above also includes a young Peter Beardsley, pre-Liverpool and Newcastle, playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
Thank you for the photos! I love them all! I wish I still had them , I guess they have been somehow lost throughout the years!
Now why can't we still use these uniforms & logo? They are much more exciting in my opinion, than the blue uni's!
Here is the entire article from the May 1981 NASL "Kick" Magazine/Match program: Part 2: http://soundercentral.com/2005/SJQ/GBest-2.jpg Part 3: http://soundercentral.com/2005/SJQ/GBest-3.jpg Part 4: http://soundercentral.com/2005/SJQ/GBest-4.jpg If you want to click on a few Google Ads to send some $$$ to our site for hosting these scans, go here: http://soundercentral.com/google-ads/support_soundercentral.htm Thanks. My sincere condolences to all Quakes fans who knew George or saw him play. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Best a few times in Seattle's Kingdome. While the Sounders faired well against those Quakes, George still had magic in his shoes even then.
This picture of George Best sitting in the gold seats was taken in 1981 at Spartan Stadium. They had just re-built the west side of the stadium. back then. Its really a shame they never re-built the east side back then also becuase we wouldn't have had a big problem with the stadium if they had widened it and re-built it. As it is , the west side is almost 25 years old.

For those who hadn't seen it in the other thread: I really don't remember any blue in the jersey's but maybe there was some for the away jersey's as they wore red at home...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Adidas-NASL-Qua...oryZ2885QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem No indication that it was ever worn by George Best.
Yeah I'm wondering also. Maybe on a preseason tour the Quakes had in Europe or maybe for some type of exhibitions but I don't really recall that jersey during George Best's years of 1980 -81.
I don't think anybody responded to krudmonks question ....... WHERE was this PIC taken ? and that happens to be Elton John if I'm correct.
Well Elton John owned or was part owner of the Los Angeles Aztecs. This picture was taken when Best played for them in LA. I remember seeing some pics of Elton trying to take some shots while George looked on.
That is Elton John. He got involved with a British team (I want to say it was Watford) and there was some media buzz surrounding it. Plus, Best played for the Aztecs, and if I remember correctly, Elton John was often seen at Aztec games in the late 70s. Also, there were quite a few "trash" sports shows produced for TV in those days, and I am thinking one of those shows might have featured something about Elton John and George Best. In the 70s, there were not nearly the number of TV outlets that we see today, so there were obviously not nearly as many shows produced. However, like today's "reality" shows, "trash sports" were kind of a fad in the 70s (Kyle Rote Jr., the first US soccer "star" won the ABC show "Superstars" one year).
