    Genoa 2-2 Bologna

Bologna's Riccardo Orsolini scored in the 37th, Bologna's Jens Odgaard scored in the 56th, Genoa's Andrea Pinamonti scored in the 73rd, and Pinamonti equalized in the 85th with a header from a free kick taken far away from the goal. There were not many expected goals (xG), with 0.43 by Genoa, and 0.75 by Bologna. Bologna was favored, and they had much better statistics, but luckily they blew their lead. I did not realize how poorly Genoa is doing. They ended their three game losing streak, but they have only two points from their last five games. They have 6 points from 8 games, their -10 goal differential is the second worst, and their 17 goals allowed is the most. They are on pace to allow 81 goals, which would be 35 percent more than the 60 they allowed in 2021-2022 when they got relegated. If Monza wins at 12th place Verona tomorrow, Genoa will be in the relegation zone. Genoa's next game is Sunday 27 October at 7th place Lazio. Through eight games, six or seven clubs will have no wins (Monza if they do not win tomorrow) or one win. It will be six clubs if Cagliari wins hosting Torino later today.

    Lazio 3-0 Genoa

Genoa has 6 points from 9 games, including horrible form with 1 point from their last 5 games, and they are in the relegation zone by 2 points. Only last place Lecce at -16 is worse than Genoa's -13. Genoa has the second most goals allowed, and tied for the second fewest goals scored. Genoa's next game is hosting ninth place Fiorentina on Thursday. Flash Score says that if there is a tie for 17th, there will be a tiebreaker game. In 2018-2019, Genoa and Empoli tied for 17th, and the head-to-head tiebreaker let Genoa stay and relegated Empoli.

    4 October: Parma 0-1 Genoa

Andrea Pinamonti scored the only goal in the 79th. Genoa had 15 shots, including 7 on goal, and Parma had 13 shots off goal or blocked without a shot on goal.

    7 October: Genoa 1-1 Como

Como's Lucas Da Cunha scored in the 17th, and Genoa's Alessandro Vogliacco equalized in the 90+2nd. Como had better statistics including more shots 18 to 8, and more shots on goal 8 to 4. Genoa is 15th with 10 points from 12 games, but they are only 2 points above last, and the five clubs below them have not played their twelfth game yet. Genoa's -13 goal differential is the second worst. Como has the same amount of points and is above Genoa with a -10 goal differential. Head-to-head is the tiebreaker after both head-to-head games.

Genoa got Mario Balotelli, whose goals include 27 for AC Milan, 20 for Inter Milan, and 20 for Manchester City. He had 7 goals in 16 games for Adana Demirspor, who is last in the Turkish Super Lig with 2 points from 10 games.

Why would Genoa fire Alberto Gilardino now instead of last week right before the international break?

    Genoa 2-2 Cagliari

Cagliari's Razvan Marin scored a penalty kick in the 8th, Genoa'a Morten Frendrup scored in the 12th, Fabio Miretti scored his first goal for Genoa in the 59th, and Cagliari's Roberto Piccoli scored a penalty kick in the 88th. Genoa had more possession and shots, Cagliari had more expected goals 3.04 to 1.78, and each club had 6 shots on goal. Flash Score gave man of the match to Miretti, and said the second penalty kick was harsh. The odds had Genoa as a little more likely to win than Cagliari. Both clubs have 2 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses, and 11 points. Cagliari is 15th with -10, and Genoa is 16th with -13. Head-to-head is the tiebreaker after both head-to-head games. Genoa's goal differential per game is exactly -1. They are the first club to play eight home games, and Monza and them are the only clubs who are winless at home. Genoa is 2 points above the relegation zone, and that will go down to 1 point after Venezia hosts Lecce tomorrow. Genoa's next game is at ninth place Udinese on Sunday 1 December.
