Nice to see Mateo Retegui scoring the winner at Lazio at the Olimpico in only his second game.
Torino 1-0 Genoa
Torino scored in the 90+4th. There were not many expected goals, with 0.46 for Torino and 0.08 for Genoa. Genoa has 3 points and a -3 goal differential through 3 games.
Genoa 2-2 Napoli
Mattia Bani scored in the 40th, and Mateo Retegui scored in the 56th to give Genoa a 2-0 lead. Napoli scored in the 76th and 84th. Other than expected goals and corner kicks, Napoli had better statistics. Genoa is 12th with 4 points from 4 games and a -3 goal differential. Salernitana and AS Roma have not played their fourth game yet, and both of them will pass Genoa if they win. AS Roma hosts Empoli, who is the only club behind AS Roma. Genoa's next game is at fourth place Lecce.
Mateo Retegui scored a beautiful girl on the turnaround.
Hope he continues on this same path.
Lecce 1-0 Genoa
Genoa's Aaron Martin go a second yellow in the 36th. Genoa went a while down a man without allowing a goal, but Lecce scored in the 83rd. Lecce had more shots 18 to 8, and more shots on goal 3 to 1. Genoa is 16th with 4 points from 5 games, and three of the four clubs behind them play their fifth game tomorrow.
Genoa 4-1 AS Roma
Albert Gudmundsson scored in the 9th, AS Roma's Bryan Cristante scored in 22nd, Mateo Retegui scored in the 45th, Morten Thorsby scored in the 74th, and Junior Messias scored in the 81st. AS Roma dominated possession with 71 percent, and had 7 corner kicks to Genoa's 1. AS Roma had more shots 13 to 8. Genoa had more shots on goal 4 to 3, and AS Roma did not make a save. Genoa is tied for 11th with 7 points from 6 games. AS Roma is normally good, but they are in 16th with 5 points. Genoa's next game is Sunday at Udinese, who has 3 draws and 3 losses.
Do you know what the Roma fans were yelling at the players in the curva?
I don't think they were singing Er Pupone Buon Compleanno.
Udinese 2-2 Genoa
Albert Gudmundsson scored in the 14th, Lorenzo Lucca scored in the 23rd, Gudmundsson had a goal taken away for offside in the 28th, Gudmundsson scored in the 41st, and Alan Matturro Romero was subbed on for Gudmundsson in the 87th and headed a corner kick in for an own goal in the 90+1st to give Genoa a draw with a late equalizer allowed for the second time in four games. Udinese's Sandi Lovric got a straight red in the 90+3rd. Udinese had most of their statistics be better, but Genoa had more shots on goal 4 to 2. Genoa is twelfth with 8 points from 7 games, but half of the clubs have not played their seventh game yet, and three of them could pass Genoa. Genoa's next game is hosting second place AC Milan. The Milan clubs are tied for first with 6 wins and 1 loss, but Inter is +16, and AC is +7.
Genoa , for a team that just got promoted , are playing well.
I'm sure they will be saved from relegation.
The Grifoni really messed up today as they could have really hurt a direct rival, to their level, in the league.
A Draw was the fair Result as I saw.
Lots of salami lately??
They're going to have to be packing to measure up to the Milanese.
Best of luck.
I stopped eating salami, and I am not saying why, but I still root for Genoa.
If Genoa doesn't do something like sell good players in the winter transfer window, they will probably stay. They are 5 points and 9 goal differential above 18th.
Genoa 0-1 AC Milan
USA star Christian Pulisic scored in 87th. With Inter's draw, AC Milan took sole possession of first. After national teams play, Genoa goes to sixh place Atalanta.
Atalanta 2-0 Genoa
Ademola Lookman scored in the 68th, and Ederson scored in the 90+5th. Genoa is 15th with 8 points from 9 games, and needs to win their next game hosting 19th place Salernitana. Empoli has 1 goal scored and 16 goals allowed, and they beat Salernitana 1-0. Atalanta is 6th.
Genoa 1-0 Salernitana
Albert Gudmundsson scored in the 35th. Flash Score says Genoa hit the woodwork three times before that. Each club was better in some statistics, and Genoa had fewer expected goals 0.68 to 0.51. Genoa held on after Salernitana had late chances that were a header off the crossbar with the rebound shot over, and a shot wide from near the goal in stoppage time. Flash Score gave Man of the Match to Guillermo Ochoa, and it must be unusual to give man of the match to a losing goalkeeper who made only 3 saves. Ochoa is 38, and I have seen him play plenty for the Mexican national team. According to Wikipedia, he has 147 caps, which is tied for 47th all-time, and twelfth among active players. The only Italian with more caps than him is Gianluigi Buffon. Genoa moved up to 13th, but the other 18 clubs have not played their tenth game yet. All three clubs in the relegation zone are winless. Genoa's next game is at last place Cagliari, so Genoa has consecutive games against the bottom two.
I watched the 1st Half only. Ochoa really was outstanding. Genoa could have had 3 goals.
Cagliari 2-1 Genoa
Cagliari scored in the 48th, Albert Gudmundsson scored in the 51st, and Cagliari scored the winner in the 69th. Genoa was better a majority of statistics, but Cagliari had more shots 12 to 8 and more shots on goal 4 to 2. Genoa is 15th with 11 points from 11 games. Eight clubs have not played their eleventh game yet, and all are ahead of Genoa except for Empoli, who is 4 points behind, so they can't passd Genoa. If you use goal differential and then goals scored as tiebreakers, Sassuolo is above Genoa on goals scored, so if Sassuolo loses at Torino, Sassuolo will have a worse goal differential than Genoa and do the rare thing of falling down by playing. The Serie A tiebreaker is head-to-head, but only after both head-to-head games are played. Coincidentally, clubs I like Manchester United and Genoa both have 11 games, 12 goals scored, and 16 goals allowed, but Manchester United has 7 more points, and is 7 spots higher (which will become six spots higher if Genoa passes Sassuolo). Genoa's next game is on Friday hosting 18th place Verona, who has 8 points. If Verona wins by 1, they will be behind Genoa on goal differential, but Verona will have an away win help them win the head-to-head tiebreaker if they finish tied. If Verona wins by 2, goal differential will be tied, and Genoa will be ahead on goals scored. If Verona wins by 3 or more, they pass Genoa. After that, national teams play.
Iceland dude tearing it up. @AGomes
He is. Albert (what he has on his kit) is a fine player indeed.
He is clear of Pellegrini as far as I'm concerned.
Genoa 1-0 Verona
Radu Dragusin scored in the 44th. Genoa had more shots 16 to 7, and more shots on goal 6 to 1. Genoa is in 13th with 14 points from 12 games. They are 2 points above Sassuolo, who played a draw in today's other game. They are 1 point above Lecce, who hosts third place AC Milan tomorrow. Verona is 18th. After national teams play, Genoa's next game is at Frosinone, and Genoa will pass Frosinone with a win as long as Frosinone does not win at first place Inter Milan on Sunday.
I need Frosinone to beat Inter, however.
Frosinone 2-1 Genoa
Frosinone scored in the 34th, Ruslan Malinovsky tied it in the 38th, and Frosinone scored in the 90+4th. Genoa is 15th with 14 points in 13 games. Udinese is at AS Roma now, and Udinese will get to 14 points if they win. Genoa's next game is hosting 18th place Empoli, who has the worst goal differential with -17. Empoli is 4 points behind Genoa, so if Empoli wins they will be 1 point behind and have a head-to-head away win toward the tiebreaker. Lecce is 14th with 14 points, but they play at 19th place Verona tomorrow.
Hammer of the Gods...
Albert rewarded with a contract extension. Until 2027.
