Ancelotti wants Cassmiro to be a big part of Brazil for the next year, He can still play decently but he is not what he was,
With 5 minutes plus stoppage time left and the game petering out you have to be swapping out one of the 3 centre backs for a offensive player surely. They had a period between 60-75 where they were getting joy but the last 10 its reverted back to pre-season intensity. With all due respect to him Dalot being a like for like swap at wing back seems unlikely to produce much different to what we've seen
A dire and marginal game. I suppose if you want a grander narrative it was Ange that gave up his philosophy and came out on top.
Happy for Spurs fans who have put up with a lot of flack and first European trophy for a long time. Certainly it'll mean a lot more to them than the United fans who've still been winning the non CL and premier league trophies pretty regularly. A truly dreadful game though, a performance by Spurs that would have lost to almost any other team but United, who surely need to get rid of Amorim now.
Very long way back for Amorim now. Could've been the sort of night that acts as a springboard to improvement but you can argue he should probably be sacked now.
I’m really not sure the game against Villa will have any impact on his fate. He’s staying or gone regardless.
The problem for United now is that if they back Amorim (as they've said they're going to) it becomes potentially cataclysmic if it goes wrong. Giving Ten Hag as much money to spend as they did has set them back years and put their finances in disarray. If they spend whatever they can now afford on players for Amorim's system and it doesn't work, they're going to be really deep in the mud. It's all well and good saying Amorim needs "his players" but you have to show you're worth investing in. I feel very bad for Amorim because he seems like a good guy but it's hard to see this going well at this point.
They’re still appallingly run under INEOS, nothing has changed. They should be creating an overarching philosophy that the club is going to follow, and then buying players and hiring managers to fit that. They’re not, they’re still doing it the wrong way round. You can just about get away with having a model where you give the manager carte blanche if it’s Pep, Klopp, Ferguson etc but not for coaches the calibre of Amorim or Ten Hag.
Regarding bianchneri The hypocrisy of the Welsh You don't get publicly invited unless you accepted first. There was a video on X with the manager discussing his callup but I could not be bothered wasting my energy listening. I went through this nonsense with Immanuel Feyi-Wabosa in the rugby. Just can't rationalise it - he fights hard for Wales at age grades, kisses the badge on the shirt - totally committed, gets invited to train with the senior squad and then a country who have not invested one second of their time in him and who are absolutely irrelevant in football calls him up and he agrees while on duty with us. I know his mum is Canadian but its a bit astonishing as he has a clear pathway with us, a passionate country fan base with us and is considering giving that up to play 'soccer' in a country that does not care that much for football. You get high intensity international matches of a high standard in that Cardiff stadium with that fanbase and he'd consider trading that in with Vancouver - I dread to think how many fans bother to show up for run of the mill international. Plus the travel involved with playing for Canada would be very disruptive and he would be much more marketable playing for us than them, so I assume this is not driven by his agent. I am not a hater and you should always go with your heart but I just do not understand this. I saw a social media post saying his dad was Italian and his mum Canadian but is that really true as it seems odd for them to settle down in Wales and bring up a family.
Man Utd staff booed Avi Glazer & Jim Ratcliffe when came on screen during last night’s Europa League final during a staff viewing party in Manchester. Staff understandably v concerned as to what last night means for the club and their jobs moving forwards. https://t.co/jU7Llh68q3— Adam Crafton (@AdamCrafton_) May 22, 2025
Nice fans have hated INEOS throughout their tenure there so we could say it was inevitable. Even if they got every decision perfect from here on out it'd still take 3-5 years for them to become a title contender again. With their record of decision-making, there's probably a chance they go another 10 or even 15 years without seriously challenging for the PL title. I didn't watch much of Ugarte at Sporting or PSG, but pretty much everyone who did seemed to say that he'd be a crap signing. How INEOS thought it was a good idea to splash £60m on him is beyond me when the average fan almost unanimously thought it was a poor deal. The Parisian press was rejoicing when the transfer went through. If these are the people making the decisions I really don't see a way out for United.
