I don’t think a guy like Levy will ever look at himself or let it entertain his thoughts that he might be part of the problem. I guess it’s down to the owner ( Philip Green? ) to give him the boot.
You're right. It's just crazy; I don't think you even have to be that self-aware to realise that throughout all the crap, you're the one who's remained a constant at the club.
It’s majority owned by the trust of the Family of Joe Lewis but Levy always seem to portrayed as having the final say.
Ineos were not happy Ashwroth didn’t cut jobs quick enough according to the Atheltic. They also saying he might replace Edu at Arsenal.
1865696757838938200 is not a valid tweet id Good to see big media outlets finally cottoning on to how homogeneous the Premier League has become. Lots of stats in this article to support the lack of variety in the way teams play that some of us have been banging on about for months. The PL needs a big reset because it's not in a particularly good place imo. One of the most concerning aspects of all of this is the fact that every club has their academy playing this way now too. We're going to see fewer and fewer mavericks and problem solvers coming through the system in time if things don't change.
Former Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth was not in favour of appointing Ruben Amorim as the club's new manager and instead recommended a move for former England boss Gareth Southgate. (Manchester Evening News)
If ineos want to shift perception and make Ashworth look bad on his way out, they know they can pin on him that he wanted to hire Southgate. And all the fans will think its a good decision for him to leave, that's why I have my doubts it's true.
Man Utd fans when they get relagated to championship next year "well it could be worse we could have got Southgate"
its basically a hit job. Ashworth wanted Rangnick as manager in 2016 and interviewed him but the rest of the fa wanted an English manager. Seems highly unlikely he would favour an English manager in club football. Not that I really think Southgate would ultimately do any worse than the recent United managers really, not that I think he’s suited to club football, but it’s not exactly difficult to match or exceed the bar set post Ferguson. Amorim will likely be a similar story. The reports that Ashworth didn’t want Amorim because he didn’t think they had the players to suit him and should stick to a set style rather than overhauls makes more sense.
I wonder how that would have worked out. He has done well with Austria so might be well suited to international management but in 2016 the public mood was hostile towards the team so someone who most had never heard of coming in could have got an interesting reaction. I suspect that was mainly why they wanted an English coach because they couldn’t have actually been that happy with Allardyce..
Apparently someone did a list of the top rivalries in World Football, some are fair shouts but some are just plain weird. They even have a rivalry with City v Chelsea, like that’s news to me. Not even City v Utd but City v Chelsea is bigger, lol. Anyway, just thought I’d add for a laugh. 1866158077004661244 is not a valid tweet id
Todd Boehly, part owner of Chelsea, is interested in buying the Telegraph newspaper. That could be interesting in terms of how it might affect’s its coverage of Football.
Spurs are set to stand by manager Ange Postecoglou and back the Australian in the January transfer window, despite their poor run of results.(Teamtalk)
There haven’t massively well at Nice either and Team Ineos hasn’t been as good as when it was Team Sky.
It's just a really grim way of running a football club. You need to strike the right balance between running a football club like a community and running it like a business and INEOS are showing no care at all for the community aspects. The way they've binned off numerous long-serving employees, cut funding for disabled supporters and generally shunned the lower-paid employees is just vile. I don't see how you can build a positive culture at a club when you run it like that. It's also highly likely that the people and groups they've targeted with their cost-cutting won't save that much money compared to what they could've done.
