Mario Lemina? And I thought this couldn't get any more trivial. Come back to me when Alan Hudson's set out his stall.

🚨🔴 BREAKING: Manchester United are set to pay €10m exit clause for Rúben Amorim to become new manager, here we go!Sporting confirm formal communication received from #MUFC for Amorim to be appointed.Amorim has already said yes to Man Utd proposal and project. pic.twitter.com/v17tR1oqlm— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) October 29, 2024 Interested to see how this works out. He's set his Sporting side up in a very similar way to how Ten Hag tried to set United up, albeit much more successfully, so it doesn't feel like the best fit for this United squad on paper. Sporting had similar issues to United when playing in the Champions League so I suspect he's going to have to try something a lot different here. Definitely a good manager on the whole though.
Feels like they need a really experienced old hand who gets the PL and can stabilise the club not someone on the Up.

Christ, I don’t believe it! Werner who previously couldn’t finish even if he was married to a prime Claudia Schiffer, has actually finished one!
Elite London Academy, a ⚽️ club based in the Shepherd’s Bush area whose main goal is to build a pathway for young players to join academies from grassroots, beat Atlético Madrid in a U15 tournament currently taking place in Algarve 🇵🇹 this morning pic.twitter.com/iUWWh5Mjzx— The Next Wave (@_TheNextWave_) November 2, 2024 What is effectively a grassroots side beating Atlético Madrid's academy is pretty impressive. First I've heard of this team but it seems like a great project.
This is a really good podcast about academy football in England, coaching in England etc. Some very interesting points.

Upamecano on the likes of Rodri calling for the players to go on strike due to the crowded schedule: "Yes, why not. I've already said that there are a lot of games. It's a topic we have to discuss between us. I hope one day they'll understand that"
The most games Upamecano has ever played in a season for a club is 43, not exactly a prime candidate for moaning about overplaying. As always if these players come out and say they'll take less money for less games, maybe something could be done but none of them ever do.
Really poor showing from the academy sides in the EFL Cup this season, Villa the only side to make it out of the group stage. There's been quite a stark regression in the performance levels of Cat 1 academy sides in the last few seasons. Think it comes down to various factors but it's a concerning development. The whole academy system is in a very precarious place in this country right now.
It all feels like a the things that have worked over the last decade are no longer working just at the time they need to work because the number of English players in the PL keeps dropping
There's a lot more talk of the issues in the mainstream which is good, but it's utterly mind boggling how some academies have managed to become to regressive in their approach after doing so much good work for so long.
