I can’t imagine FiIFA admitting defeat. They will probably try and broadcast it themselves on fifa.tv with a paywall if they can’t grt any one to but the rights.
Same this season as last. Imagine they'll get knocked out as soon as they play a top side. I can't imagine them lasting deep into the season with how little he rotates key players. Saliba, Rice, Saka, Havertz have just played constantly since the start of last season with not enough rest this summer.
Arsenal only have Saka who can claim to be a top level attacker. The rest are flaky as hell. It was a pretty terrible game from both sides 8 Atalanta shots to Arsenal's 6 highlights that.
Kompany on the tight schedule and the stress of playing too many games: "That has always been a topic in recent years, I was part of the FIFPRO players' union. We've always dealt with the topic very seriously. It's not just about the games, but also about the travel - including… pic.twitter.com/CgzunMfyhS— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) September 20, 2024
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvg36262ny5o How can it only be player led when clubs themselves could easily reject some of these extra matches,
Serious looking injury for Rodri. Very few players in world football have played as much as him in the last 15 months - so you have to wonder if he’s simply broken down due to workload-related reasons? https://t.co/2LhQZw6BM3— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) September 22, 2024 Think this might be what triggers the players strike which the PFA wants to target international football (See here - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-revealed-close-striking-hectic-schedule.html) I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if things move fairly quickly and it’s a meet up this autumn that players boycott.
🚨🚨| Marc-André ter Stegen had to be carried off on a stretcher due to an injury sustained during the match against Villarreal. pic.twitter.com/A6kFq5VW7O— CentreGoals. (@centregoals) September 22, 2024 Horrible news. Germany have a problem now with goalkeepers through. The last camp the other two were both uncapped.
Ter Stegen has been a bit of a liability for a long time. Barca fans can't stand him, he has to turn the comments off on his Instagram posts a lot of the time because he gets pelters on there from them so often. I know very little about Germany's fringe goalkeepers but I'm not sure how much Ter Stegen's absence would harm them. Their keeper situation can't be any worse than ours anyway.
He has just become their number one after a long time as N.2. Bernd Leno and Kevin Trapp with 9 caps each have both been disgarded by Nagelsman leaving 34 year old Oliver Bauman of TSG Hoffenhim as the next in line it seems then 27 year old Alexander Nubel of Vfb Stuttgart. Nubel has been on permanent loan from Bayern with plans for him to eventually succeed Neuer. 34 would be near a record for a debut even for a goalkeeper.
✍️ "There is a growing sentiment, one being amplified by FIFPRO and the PFA, that strike action is a serious possibility."@MattGregory3AM takes a deep dive into potential footballer strike action, following Rodri and Alisson claims#MCFC #LFChttps://t.co/bIzECJZImp— 3 Added Minutes (@3addedminutes) September 19, 2024 The PFA is the main ones as they want a strike that doesn’t cost players money and international football is the easy one to target. FifaPro also don’t seem to keen on international football either.
The article you attached isn’t making either of these claims or predictions. It’s your predictions/assumptions again. Striking during international football is not going to resolve the drastic changes to the club football schedule either.
I know but the PFA seems to think the big issues are national team and club World Cup rather than the calendar as a whole. They don’t want to upset club fans too much,
Scott McTominay vs Juventus pic.twitter.com/cxGClWSUdi— Karim (@Mirko_par99) September 21, 2024 Lmao, look how much better McTominay looks outside of United. Said it before but I think it puts into perspective how hard it is to look good at Man Utd and how impressive it is that Mainoo has done what he's done so early in his pro career.
According to the stats he still on made 21 passes from 31 touches in 90 minutes though which is desperately poor for a central midfielder, his inability to get on the ball was always one of his most glaring flaws. It's something Mainoo needs to get much better at too, some of it is tactics, but not all. His non Mctominay partners usually touch the ball way more than him. Unlike McTominay age is on his side though to learn how to better position himself off the ball for more availability.
Never seen a more average player than McTominay. His goals hide the fact he does little else in the game
Rodri out for the season with an ACL inury it seems. Will have a seismic impact on Man City’s season as well as the debate about how many matches a player can play each season. I think we will get some managers complaining about internationals during the next couple of weeks.
I don't really understand why Rodri getting injured in September would be so representative of too many matches in a season. He's barely played at all since the Euro's ended two months ago. It was his 3rd start since then, and he hadn't played longer than an hour in any of those games. As much as players moan about overplaying i've never seen anyone come out and say they'd be happier to be paid less to play less games, which is ultimately the crux of the issue.
Becuase he has played a lot in previous seasons and not had much of a break. Plus he was vocal about how he finds more than 50 matches a year less optimal and suggested a strike could occur. ACL injures have been linked to how tired a player is.
He's played a lot previously but he's not going down with an overuse injury having had 2 months without starting a match. Most likely he was unlucky, and/or City did not manage an underlying issue he had well, which is its own separate issue that managers are guilty of.
Maybe but that be the perception. David Ornstein’s article about Rodri’s injury is mainly about his comments on overplaying and possible strikes.
I think we go over this ad nauseum but I don't really see the relevance of the media here. Ultimately if there's a deal to be done on reducing games it'll need everyone around the table to accept less money. Players, club, associations. As such its difficult to see anything ever coming out of it. No one actually wants to deal with the consequences of less games - less money for everyone involved. Hence everyone points their fingers at everyone else to blame.
Carlo Ancelotti was suggesting players would accept pay cuts for less matches. I doubt they would (And it’s possible less matches doesn’t lose as much money anyway if it means individual matches are worth more in broadcasting and tickets prices).
