Hope he recovers but surely time now to hang up his boots. The guy has a family that need him healthy and alive, not gone to soon because he doesn’t want to retire.
Yeah ******** that if I'm the coach I'm not letting him anywhere near a pitch again under my watch. The guy has got to retire for the sake of his family.
Extremely peculiar campaign by Italy in the U17 Euros. Won the title by winning both the semi-final and the final on penalties after 1-1 draws, with both of their goals in those games also coming from penalties. Belgium went 1-0 up in the final in the 85th minute only for Italy to equalise via a penalty in stoppage-time.
Unfortunately the national anthem debate has already started on social media with the husband of a former Home Secretary demanding the players are kicked out if they won’t sing the anthem. Do these debates happen across the world or just in England? The new all 26 sing the anthem together is not ideal at all for team that doesn’t all sing it - it’s going to make it more obvious and heighten the chances it becomes a major debating point.
It’s Rauk Braverman ranting about it but his wife Suella is still an active politician and if she or other high profile ones talk about then the media will likely start. I mean in 2024 some of the media had a meltdown about Lee Carsley not singing it.
Ireland refuse to play Israel in Dublin and have asked for a neutral venue. Euro 2028 planning will now get a lot more complicated https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/202...e-today-on-irelands-home-fixture-with-israel/
If Ireland can't guarantee they are able fulfil all possible fixtures, then surely Ireland is just stripped of hosting, there are only 6 games in Dublin.
I think that will be what some people in England and across UEFA will be calling for in the coming weeks and months (After the Villa Park ban there was complaints from politicians that it should lose its Euro 2028 matches) But it could become a major mess as they is majority support for Israel to be banned from European football in England according to all the various polls I’ve seen,
I don't think its would become a mess, Uefa need to ask Ireland if they can fulfil all possible fixtures, if they say 'No' or 'Yes with caveats' then I imagine Uefa are will within there rights to withdraw hosting privileges.
Because the AFC forced them out in the 1974 and after period in the wilderness and with Oceania UEFA asked them to join.
