With these rule changes at the World Cup, it should be absolutely drilled into our players to not put your hand over your mouth while talking to any opposing player. If I was a cynical manager ( which I’m not but there are plenty out there ) trying to gain an advantage, then I would tell my players to cry abuse at the first instance of a player covering his mouth since it will likely result in a instant red card even if he said anything or not. I can see someone speaking behind the hand as it’s been such a habit of players lately and just get lost in the moment.
Southampton owner will not sack head coach Eckert https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cq6pn58pmn4o Two possibilities here: 1: The owner has absolutely no belief in fair play. 2: Everyone at the club knows what was going on, and Eckert has said he'll spill the beans if sacked. Press conferences next year should be interesting, although ultimately I think he'll have no choice as I expect a lengthy ban for Eckert (and others).

🚨🇮🇪 NEW: Sinn Fein, the Social Democrats and Labour have confirmed they will support two Dàil motions calling for the Ireland vs Israel football match to be called off[@rtenews]— Politics Global (@PolitlcsGlobal) June 7, 2026 Honestly not sure how this is going to be resolved without affecting Euro 2028 one way or another. Both options - Ireland gets punished or Israel gets punished will be extremely controversial in England and cause a lot of problems for the FA to deal with.
The most likely outcome is that UEFA quietly inform them they will suffer a 3-0 forfeit loss if they don't play the game and this whole thing fizzles out.
For anyone who says Scotland aren’t obsessed with us, I would urge you to check any social media that reports their football team. They cannot get through one social media post without mentioning us in the comments. It’s actually pathetic. Everything is a competition with them and us. This is why I hate them being in tournaments because they never stop talking about us.
UEFA have already effectively told them that and that’s why the team currently plans to play it but with so much domestic opposition I’m not sure it will be feasible for them to hold that line. And more likely compromise of moving the match to Hungary or somewhere (Like Scotland women did) will be unlikely to please anyone in Ireland.
