It won't have just been those three games. They'll have been doing it all of the time. But yes, it really sets the standard for it now.
🚨 BREAKING: Southampton manager Tonda Eckert admitted he was responsible for the decision to spy on opponents — his key defence was that, since the practice is widespread on the continent, he had no idea he was breaking English football rules #saintsfc @TeleFootball pic.twitter.com/0VOeNXFueP— SaintsExtra (@SaintsExtra) May 19, 2026 Given they've admitted to the spying, I'm unsure what they're appealing for. It can only realistically be on a technicality in the process.
He's screwed FA considering charging Eckhart over alleged integrity breaches, which would bring 6-18-month banhttps://t.co/7vlOUqrYSO— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) May 19, 2026
I've read that Boro had a former member of Southampton staff as a whistleblower, and he left the club after he was asked to spy. There's no way he didn't know. Edit - there we go 🚨 In written evidence submitted to the EFL, the whistleblower is understood to have claimed that Southampton team meetings included references to opposition data being gathered from the training ground #saintsfc @TeleFootball pic.twitter.com/aAJG2WOm2Q— SaintsExtra (@SaintsExtra) May 19, 2026
Might get to see Dowman start the last game on Sunday now they have won the league, no doubt will want to wrap some players up in cotton wool for the final.
According to Spanish reports. Pep will take a year long sabbatical before taking on the role of coaching a national team. If things don't work out with tuchel is pep someone you guys might be interested in? Can't see too many jobs at international level that pep would take
Logically I don't think Pep would be a good national team manager for England, but it would be such a crazy opportunity I would want to see it happen.
The FA would demand he agree to a no attendance at any political rallies or making any potentially political comments clause to solid any possibly controversies.
Not looking good for Southampton, Stefan Borson doesn’t seem optimistic they can over turn the decision. Also seems like a lot of behind the scenes problems at Southampton, seems Eckert is going to be sacked ( not really surprising though ) 🚨Southampton's appeal prospects do not look good - some thoughts1. It is very hard to properly assess Southampton's chances of a successful appeal because 1) there is little guidance in the EFL Regs about the acceptable grounds for Disciplinary Appeals and 2) because we have no…— slbsn (@slbsn) May 19, 2026 Eckert faces sack and FA ban, sporting director also under scrutiny, owner 'furious', fears sponsors will pull out and amgry players consider taking legal action. Point 5 from Borson is misleading. The EFL didn't need to argue that the playoffs are a separate competition from the league - it's clearly articulated in their rule book. They only have two viable routes to go down with their appeal from what I've seen. Either that the whole process was technically/legally flawed, or that the sanctions were determined on a basis that is not legally supported (which is his disproportionate point). They can't appeal solely on the basis that they don't like the outcome.
I´m worried he´d be even more adamant to ´make Foden work´ for England thinking he´s known him for so long and knows how to get the best out of him... only to disappoint again. I also think he´d have to drastically change his footballing approach becuase he cant´t turn England into some Spain from Temu side expecting to beat the original if they were to meet at some point. I don´t like his idea of inverted fullbacks for England either.
What an incredibly dirty player Delap is btw, had an absolute disaster of a season for Chelsea. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/z0lRI7yai6— Djed Spence (@DjedSpence) May 19, 2026
He´s really just an incredibly stupid footballer. Does stuff like this all the time and every defender easily knows how to get fouls called in their favour against him. Also just a red card waiting to happen so nothing short of a liability for a tournament. I´d say let him play for Ireland but not sure he´d even make their squad at this point; he certainly wouldn´t be their first or second choice striker.
I think we probably need a manager who gets us playing the very best version of ourselves (high tempo, high intensity) rather than one who micro-manages teams to suit his own possession-based, relentlessly technical style. It might be a blast initially, but leave us struggling to recover our identity in the long run. Jurgen Klopp would be better.
His post match interview last night seemed to open the door for the possibility of him staying on at City
What I find odd despite numerous posts from well known football journalists and media outlets is that the Club itself hasn’t made any sort of statement on the subject as far as I’m aware.
The thing about replacing Pep with Maresca is from the outside looking in it seemed as though Maresca was unable to build any sort of high level culture at Chelsea in the way Arteta did quite quickly with Arsenal. Chelsea's discipline was constantly poor, they often didn't turn up in games against lesser sides and the whole group just seemed entitled and distasteful. Culture building is far more important than tactics or style of play and I'm not sure you can replace a titan of a leader in Guardiola with someone like Maresca, who for a long time was just a subservient mouthpiece to Clearlake until the boat got pushed too far. I don't think any strong character would've accepted some of the decisions Clearlake were making. I get there isn't a like for like replacement for Pep and nobody particularly proven, but you could argue Maresca has proven himself deficient in this department. Might've been better to roll the dice with someone else.
