If the BBC spent less time trying not to offend people and more on creating innovative, weighty and challenging content, then they might still be a relevant force. As it is, the thought of having the likes of Dion Dublin and Karen Carney sharing their knowledge and insight with us at this next World Cup is just an instant turn off.
Replace Football Focus with an extanded Final Score. Final Score is almost always on the iplayer anyway.
I'm not looking forward to having gabby yorath chair the England games. As bad as people think about gary lineker, at least he was insightful and entertaining to listen to
World Cup final tickets go on sale for $2.3m each https://t.co/mIKEDRiPg4— Sky News (@SkyNews) April 23, 2026 At first I thought this was a joke but apparently not!! Wow!
It what happens when you have unlimited financial resources and the deepest squad in the league. Case in point is City addressing their defensive injury crisis which was costing them points by buying England’s best centre back in the January window. I’m personally sceptical of narratives about Arsenal being bottlers, Pep being a genius or City having an ‘elite mentality’.
Even if you look at gross spend, they've spent about the same as United and significantly less than Chelsea over the last 10 years. If it's net spend, they're down in 5th place in the Premier League below United, Chelsea, Arsenal and (lol) Spurs.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/38925071/gabriel-haaland-headbutt-var-must-be-scrapped/ Wonder if her replacement at West Ham is also in favour of axing VAR. Susoect they are. Dont think anyone in the game except PGMOL and the FA want it anymore. No one in the media wants it - from Talksport t9 the Athletic everyone wants it gone. I honestly think it will go this summer.. It’s going to be the big sudden news this summer I suspect. Mark Bullingham needs to be careful because his obsession with the challenge system could end up costing him his job - he is going to force it info the FA Cup because he wants to impress some people at FIFA despite no club boss wanting it and end up getting the direct blame for it. The media might turn on him pretty quickly over it. La Liga is nailed on to axe it. Both Real and Barca hate it and they pretty much control the league.
Enzo Maresca is free to sign for any club this summer after resigning from Chelsea, and with a growing expectation Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester City, there have been high-level talks between the Italian and City - talkSPORT Pep Guardiola has emerged as a candidate for the vacant head coach position of the Italian national team, following Gennaro Gattuso's departure - Gazzetta dello Sport
With the insane costs at this World Cup, I wonder how many England fans we will have out in the US going to the games? Can’t really find any definitive numbers online but would be surprised if there’s more than a few thousand travelling across the pond.
It’s going to be an odd atmosphere. Most matches will be majority local except for some teams with fans who seem willing to pay well beyond what they can afford and teams with good US based fanbases.
I think they're second in gross spend. It's fair to say that they've spent massively but also that their recruitment has been better than the other big clubs as well. The point remains that the fact they were able to recruit Guehi in January could be the deciding moment in the title race. I'm sure Arsenal would've liked to have improved their squad in January if they were able.
On City, it's worth pointing out that this season they have spent £110m on 3 players who have ended up as backups (Reijnders, Trafford, Ait-Nouri) and £130m last season on 3 similar players (Marmoush, Savinho, Nico Gonzalez). Along with another £50m in the same period on prospects (Mubama, Vitor Reis, Nypan, Bah). Khusanov was also over £30m and took a year to settle in. Yes, they've made some excellent signings, but they can also afford to make ineffective ones much more than other teams.
Transfer expenditure is also grossly overrated as a predictor of football performances. Wages have the strongest correlation. City spent 70m more last season than Arsenal on wages, and that was a season City didn't even do well so paid out much less in bonuses than usual. In 23/24 it was 85m more.
Obviously Southampton have the FAC SF but if they beat Ipswich on Tuesday that last promotion spot goes to the last day with any of 4 teams getting it. Fun.
Only you. But it's been some ride over there. I wasn't to impressed by Hull when I watched a couple weeks back. Expecting neither to get promoted whoever gets 6th.
Nope. Just don't think they should be in the league. As soon as the League of Wales was created they should have been kicked out
