100%. Wimbledon is the only former Premier League club to have effectively gone bankrupt and been liquidated. Looking into it - and I'm looking strictly at the 'modern era' here btw - the following clubs entered formal insolvency proceedings while or after being in the Premier League: Portsmouth, Leeds, Southampton, Leicester, Palace, Derby, Wigan, Bolton. Several current Premier League clubs have faced penalties or investigations for breaching PSR - which can be viewed as a bellwether for this sort of problem: Everton, Chelsea, Forest, Villa, and City. Has a real trickle down effect across the EFL.
🚨 Tottenham Hotspur in pole position to sign Andy Robertson this summer, subject to retaining PL status. 32yo fully focused on #LFC so nothing finalised & also interest from Europe but #THFC lead contender to seal deal if relegation avoided @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/atyDgOz6EF— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) April 10, 2026
I think La Liga might be about to axe VAR. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona now seem happy enough to remove it considering their criticisms of it.
City are also not great to be honest. I could see Arsenal drawing this and then City doing the same or worse tomorrow.
However City under Pep have never lost a competitive to the end title race. I am not sure this will be the first.
I think the next 2 games will tell us what will happen, if City can avoid slipping up tomorrow then beat Arsenal next week they'll be 3 points behind with a game in hand and massively tails up, with an Arsenal side that already repeatedly has issues with burn out in this final stretch of the season. Arsenal also have the split priorities putting a lot more pressure on things with both the premier league and champions league within reach.
Gonna be a great game later. Chelsea need the points but also no there's no pressure from a fanbase who half wants them to roll over. I can see it being wide open and end to end.
Think Forest and Leeds are going to get out of which means it is going to come down to West Ham v Spurs. Which is the absolute nightmare situation for me.
The City midfield seems wide open with limited mobility but Chelsea’s back four and keeper look very vulnerable on paper.
Shin pads need making bigger again. Nasty injury for Lewis Holtby today. https://talksport.com/football/4179532/lewis-holtby-injury-nac-breda-tottenham-hotspur-relegation/ John Terry part of the consortium buying Colchester United. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/38798437/john-terry-buys-colchester-united-football/
I'm West Ham too (my whole family is) and I've already lived through being relegated twice. This time round, strange as it sounds, I'm not as worried about it.. And Tottenham will be feeling double the pressure if it goes down to the wire
Spurs are going down. It's not even worth talking about. They're in serious trouble especially if they don't come straight back up.
Don’t think it will happen, but if Arsenal do fall short in the title race there could be a genuine chance that all of the pl big clubs have new managers next season. Pep may decide to go out on a high, Arteta’s position would arguably become untenable, Slot will likely go, Rosenior will be the collateral damage of a Blueco shakeup amidst mutiny at Chelsea and it’s still not clear whether Carrick will get the job permanently. Even if he does, it will be a different manager to who United started this season with.
I think pep will fancy another crack at the champions league with City. The fact he's only won it once at city will rankle with him. And he'll be called a failure by some despite his huge success
2003 was (by far) the worst for me. Still remember every single game in the 2nd half of that season leading up until final day and then losing the first playoff final (after going down). We had to go Cardiff because Wembley wasn't finished yet. And after losing, the train back from Wales was packed like sardines full of fans (like rush hour on the tube) but for 4hrs - complete despair. Although this is what all lower league travelling fans have to experience whenever they lose a playoff final. Tottenham supporters really don't know what they're in for, if they go down.
We should have a comedy thread but nevermind will add it here because it is general football and is pretty funny A simply incredible goal in Paraguay yesterday. The striker missed the penalty and then the opposition player smashed it into his face for the goal.
