🚨 Tottenham Hotspur actively working on candidates to replace Igor Tudor if decision taken to make another head coach change after Liverpool trip. Unclear whether would be interim again or longer-term appointment but #THFC exploring options @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/79a65sekRl— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) March 13, 2026
Folks from the Balkans tend to be ultra-nationalist. Young nations that were formed through bloody conflict often are.
Opting for Germany rather than the USA? Saw he was born in the US. Would that be the first time a US born player has played for Germany?
Not too sure but I believe this could be the case. Thing is in contrast to Nathaniel Brown who´s grown up in Germany and only ever played for them at youth level Banks actually grew up in the States until he was 7 years old and has only ever represented them and stated multiple times it´d be his dream to play for them and so on which they hold against him now. Multiple reports suggest he´s undecided and weighing up his options and odesn´t want to rush his decision just bcause he could play in a home WC for them. Nagelsmann has apparently phoned him multiple times since he broke through for Augsburg. The current state of German defenders (most are aging and there are only 2 others in his age span making significant appearances in the Bundesliga if I´m not mistaken) might make this a bit more tricky for the Yanks as he apparently declined a call-up for their March squad. Many are blaming Poch for not cap-tying him earlier when he was with their seniors but only on the bench. Oh and they are angry at Banks for "using" them and viewing them as "only his second option" and some - believe it or not - use Balogun of all cases as an example for someone who´d have always wanted to play for them over his European nation. I personally think he should play for the US. I doubt his ceiling is anywhere near that of Jeltsch (Stuttgart) and Coulibaly (Bremen).
Lol it's a rather common surname in the German-speaking communities in the Alpine area, hence why Young Boys play in Wankdorf for example.
There must have been someone back in 1925 when they built the stadium that might have told the Austrians that maybe, just maybe by naming the stadium with that name and having a Club called Young Boys playing there might raise more than one or two eyebrows across the English speaking community. lol. Then again, I’m not even sure that specific word even existed back then, idk. Then again I’m still surprised Swedish families still name a new born daughter Fanny when they must know what it means in both England and the US Anyway, that’s me being Anglocentric and these sort of issues don’t bother anyone else and rightly so.
At the Winter Olympics there was a Swiss skier called Fanny Smith. Her mum is English and her dad is American. So they obviously know and called her it anyway. During the Winter Paralympics this week the Swedish Skier Ebba Årsjö constantly makes the commentators nervous about the risk of making her name sound offensive,
*Swiss, but otherwise completely agree. Sorry for the confusion as the player roverman mentioned is Austrian I believe. Just wanted to show this surname is quite common in Austria, Swiss and the German parts near the Alps like Bavaria.
Oh yeah my bad, should have realised it’s Swiss. Stefan Kuntz is German, played for Germany during Euro 96 and was part of what was probably the best commentary comment ever made during a game by English commentator John Motson. It was totally accidental but for English humour it just doesn’t get better. I’ve posted it before not that long ago but what the heck….
Remember I think it was in the 3 lions song. Where all the German jerseys had kuntz written on the back
Come across multiple reports stating Bouaddi will represent Morocco. They´re also after young Pitarch who started for Real against City and promised him a place in the WC.
No way can I see bouaddi plumping for Morocco at this stage. He's 18 and a certain future France international
That'd be their biggest coup yet. France have been actively speaking to him supposedly in an attempt to keep him on board. Very rare for France to lose a dual like that at his age.
I've really no sympathy for France. They've ********ed us over before by taking some of our dual players. Now they know what it's like to have it done to them with one of their big talents
Probably happens more than you realise, Scotland tried to do it Harvey Barnes but thankfully he declined. I know there’s little sentiment in football but I personally just don’t like it as it means someone who’s been fully committed to that Country’s qualification campaign misses out on playing in the World Cup they have helped achieve. I’ve no problem with people switching before qualifying starts but just getting guys in for the World Cup stinks for me.
