Every goal they have conceded is just disgraceful. Massive goalkeeping errors on two and I think Van de Ven falling over on the other. Still gobsmacked they hired Igor Tudor.
Can’t see how that would translate to the PL though and he blatantly doesn’t know the players at his disposal.
Christ, just seen them at halftime, really felt sorry for Kinsky though, you can imagine he just wanted a hole to appear on the pitch so he could jump down it, two horrid mistakes. Also not sure how VDV didn’t get sent off? Looked a red to me.
I’m not a fan of Tudor from what I’ve seen so far but can you blame him directly for those absolute ********ups for the first 3 goals? I mean they were just 3 horrendous individual errors which I guess he can’t do much about unless he’s drained there confidence so much with criticism that they are literally just in panic mode. I mean you wouldn’t expect those errors on a Sunday League pitch when playing on a farmers field.
I would blame Tudor because he switched the keepers. Knock out champions League game away at Atletico Madrid and you bring a keeper in for his first start ?
First champions League start ( Vicario has been terrible), but he's started a bunch of games for Spurs this season and last season. And he is a very promising keeper from what I've seen, but unfortunately absolutely nothing is going right.
Yeah that’s fair, hadn’t realised it was his first start but still basic errors you just wouldn’t expect at this level.
Haven’t seen much of Barcelona lately but kind of surprised how bad they have been. You always expect them to dominate the game and especially the midfield but it’s just not been the case at all, Newcastle have been the better team by quite some distance imo.
And he has been remanded in custody. The man arrested with him through has got bail. (Unusual in that normally the richer person is more likely to get bail).
As you know, Joe was denied bail and is being held on remand till 7th April. We won’t be making any further comment at this time. Properly embarrassing from Man City's point of view. Getting schooled by an injury-ravaged Madrid side that are having an awful season. They've been easy as hell to play through all season so it's hard to see why Pep thought it was a smart idea to play a midfield two with no running power (Rodri and Bernardo) with four forwards. Some very shoddy performances from Premier League clubs in this competition this week. En route to 0 wins from six games currently.
I mean it feels mental to criticise someone like Pep with everything he has achieved but he has form on previous years for overthinking things and totally screwing up the line ups for no real reason that you can think of. Really frustrating to see as a fan!
I'm not actually watching the game tbf because I'm watching Chelsea instead, but the lineup seemed absolutely wild. Just seen it's 3-0 so that's probably done and dusted now.
If I hear even once the excuse of “the pl is too taxing and attritional, other leagues are fresher” I’ll lose my head. The reality is that for all the money spent, the product is appalling and the standard is rubbish.
So currently no English teams winning, two done on set-pieces, two done on transitions, with a number of individual errors.Wrote in my newsletter on Monday that a few in European football were raising the old Platini quote:"The English are lions in winter, lambs in spring"— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) March 11, 2026 I've never heard this Platini quote before but there's something to it. When it matters, in crunch time, PL clubs will get played off the park by superior European opponents more often than not.
I think the Semenyo signing has really screwed up Man City. You can’t carry him and Haaland in a Guardiola team. Especially when you want players like Bernardo Silva or say Foden in midfield roles. Tonight’s team is just a more exaggerated version of a plan that hasn’t worked in the league. It is weird because the PL seems very strong from top to bottom but I don’t think you would pick one of the teams playing in Europe to do well. Even Arsenal who are having the best season do not have a style conducive to two legged knockout football. With the schedule this season it would probably be best from an England perspective if they all went out early anyway.
I only had Arsenal and Liverpool as favourites in there ties, apart from the City score I'm quite surprised people are surprised
