Well Italy managed to so who knows. Portugal sounded like they played well tonight despite it seeming Ronaldo had only an average game.
Austria are a big nothing team. They tried fancy flicks but couldn't string two passes together. Nothing would have made me happier than seeing wales lose
Austria were the underdog according to data companies like Gracenote. I wonder if Wales will be able to replace Bale who is very 'clutch' to use an American term. I don't think lightning will strike twice for Macedonia but then I didn't think Italy would fail to qualify for consecutive world tournaments. There's a stat going around that since they achieved a fourth title in 2006 they've only won one game at a world cup; guess who against. Anyway I'm just glad England qualified automatically as group winners and don't have to go through this do-or-die scenario.
The chances of this happening twice are slim xG map for Italy - North Macedoniaas Mel Brooks said, tragedy is when I cut my little finger, comedy is when you fall in an open sewer and die pic.twitter.com/mDhrgJBHtp— Caley Graphics (@Caley_graphics) March 24, 2022
Brilliant, for anyone not aware of what the trainee had written, it was Manchester Utd are rubbish…… UPDATE: BBC News have apologised. They say that a trainee was learning how to write text for the ticker and accidentally published them onto the BBC News Channel. pic.twitter.com/OkjPIkJAoo— Scott Bryan (@scottygb) May 24, 2022
I know it’s a friendly and really nobody cares but this was just embarrassing from Gallagher Conor Gallagher with one of the worst penalties you’ll see this year 😳 pic.twitter.com/lEKeVCmFPO— Photos of Football (@photosofootball) July 21, 2022
And then we had this from Dele! Dele. How is that even possible pic.twitter.com/HLLNj0CxWJ— All Everton (@AIlEverton) July 21, 2022
God that was bad. Chilwell penalty was interesting as well as it bounced off the post to go in. (Sterling also successfully scored one.) As a whole according to the Evening Standard he had a good match through.
This transfer window is just barking mad for Premier League teams and I honestly thought after Covid things would be rather calm for a few years at least but nope, this window has been ridiculous and not necessarily in a good way. I think I read that Premier League teams have spent more than La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, combined during this period! It’s insane!
Probably at some point but not sure when that will be. Domestic TV deals are down but overseas deals have increased. I suspect when the day comes overseas deals starts to stall the changes to spending power will reduce but at the moment there’s no sign of a decrease.
I know it’s very early in the season but seeing Utd bottom of the league is quite surreal and after Monday night I can’t see any change.
I see Forest have now signed 21 new players during this transfer window which is just mad!! You have to hope that they have a good strategy going on there as I wouldn’t have thought Cooper would want so many new players. I could be wrong but I just don’t see him panic buying like this.

I wonder if the PL will end up being the first big League to axe VAR. It doesn’t seem like many players or managers would vote to keep it they could vote on it. Other leagues seem to get it working and it’s been accepted by fans more abroad than in England. And I can’t imagine the more sensible idea to have the VAR ref be heard by everyone (as used in many other sports.) will be implemented.
Howard Webb is apparently a fan of letting the fans hear the decisions and why the decisions are made so I wouldn’t rule that out in the future.
Hasn’t he just been appointed the new chief referring officer of the Premier League? Pretty sure he might have a big say in these sort of issues.
He will have to do something because otherwise clubs will end up being forced by fan protests to vote to abolish VAR.
The BBC Pundits quoted on their website agree with the decision in the Man United/Arsenal. I think and the other incidents not happened this week and everyone is in an anti VAR mood it wouldn’t be that controversial a decision.
A £15 million release clause for Graham Potter is a sign thst national teams will increasingly find it difficult to recruit new elite managers if managers increasingly have long contracts with expensive clauses to release them from which national federations tend to not have the financial resources to pay for.

He isn’t the smartest is he!! Anyone know when this case will get done?
