And that's why I don't bet anything but the occasional horse race! Congrats to England - not sad to see the hacking Germans lose for a change. I think the German coach had a bet on England, removing their best defender for the last 5 minutes.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62404611 Premier League players will stop the pre-match anti-racism gesture of taking the knee before every match. Top-flight clubs started taking a knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement, which rose to prominence following the death of George Floyd in the United States in May 2020. Premier League captains took the decision after consulting with players. The gesture will instead be seen before certain rounds of games, including the Boxing Day fixtures and cup finals. Players and staff will also take the knee before the first and last matches of the 2022-23 campaign as well as dedicated No Room for Racism match rounds in October and March. The gesture took place before the Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City last Saturday. Captains and players are said to believe that 'less is more' - hoping when the knee is taken it will have greater impact. "We have decided to select significant moments to take the knee during the season to highlight our unity against all forms of racism and in so doing we continue to show solidarity for a common cause," said a joint statement from the Premier League captains.
Napoli owner and president Aurelio de Laurentiis says the Italian club will avoid signing any more African players unless they agree not to play in the Africa Cup of Nations. Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly - now at Premier League side Chelsea - and Cameroon midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa missed six Napoli games while on international duty at this year's tournament, which took place in January and February. "Enough of African players, or they should give up playing in the African Cup of Nations. I won't be buying them any more for this reason," De Laurentiis told a Wall Street Italia show. Koulibaly and Zambo Anguissa missed Napoli's 1-1 draw with Juventus in early January and the Coppa Italia defeat by Fiorentina, but the club then managed four league wins in their absence. Meanwhile, Senegal won the Nations Cup for the first time, to spark wild celebrations back home, while host nation Cameroon finished third. Koulibaly spent eight years at Napoli and responded to De Laurentiis' comments by saying it is important to "respect everybody". "You cannot speak about African national teams like this," the 31-centre-back told BBC Sport. "You have to have respect, and as captain of Senegal it is not a good way to speak. "If he thinks that the team can play without African players, it's up to him. But I think not everybody has the same idea as him in the club, because I know their supporters and they don't think like this."
Anyone been keeping up with the Ryan Giggs trial? He’s appearing to be quite the modern gentleman, full of compassion, understanding and all for equality of the sexes. Plus rape, assault and slavery.
Just seen this: (Reuters) -Elon Musk, the world's richest person, on Tuesday tweeted that he was buying football club Manchester United Plc, without offering any details. Musk has a history of being unconventional and making irreverent tweets, and it was not immediately clear whether he planned to pursue a deal to secure Manchester United.
How the net worth of Man Utd’s potential owner compares with Liverpool and Everton | LiverpoolWorld Ours could potentially be low as ownership is not JWH alone?
Saw this viewpoint in the Football365 mailbox the other day - and I'm surprised in my agreement with it. We have transfer windows for players. You can't rock up to a rival in October and buy their star player. Why should managers be any different? Should registering a new manager outside of the windows require looking to those without a contract? Why should chel$ea be allowed to roll up, throw some money at Brighton for Potter, and destabilize a club above them in the league table when they can't do that for one of their players? I FULL SUPPORT A TRANSFER WINDOW FOR MANAGERS
No, no, no, and no. New Chelsea owner pitches American style All Star game for premier league. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62899010
Right, that would be so much fun to watch. That all star game where we all go to Hawaii and have 75 subs hanging around each side of the field. Bullshitting. One expensive time consuming bore
Doesn't Crystal Palace have some? *Googles* Yep, or they did at least... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/crystal-palace-dismiss-calls-cheerleaders-11956704
