Well, it’s starting to look more and more likely that Scaloni is going to bring Guido. We had Perrone who had a stellar season at Como missing out because Guido… checks notes… is one of the boys. Scaloni apologists… Let’s hear it… Why is he taking Guido over a Perrone or even a Buendia. I’ll wait.
Scaloni is trying to outdo Diego’s Garce moment, smh Hopefully this is all just media nonsense. I still have an ounce of hope that Scaloni has some sense and picks anyone but Guido
Guido only played in 1 match in both WC 2022 and CA 2024 (as late sub). Its not like he's made crucial contribution in recent years like Lo Celso, Paredes and even Otamendi. His inclusion would be based on nothing other than Scaloni reminiscing his first trophy win half decade ago.
Giay got taken to the woodshed early in the game that nearly cost us a goal. Not a great back-up option. Maybe against Jordan…’but against any team with any pace or skill… good night, nurse…
He would be absolutely mad to take the donkey to replace Paredes. Paredes do the decent thing if you are not fit and say so. You hanging on is disrupting. Perrone should be head and shoulders the replacement. Very versatile, very high football IQ and unlike the donkey won't be caught labouring behind an opponent. Remember Masche in 2018 chasing Mbappe. Please learn from the past Scaloni and do what is right. I can guarantee you after this WC Perrone will be in along with several others who should be here already. I think Scaloni has been very fortunate as a coach to have Messi and really doing what most of us here, the rest of the footballing world could see to bring the best out of him. Namely movement around him, ball winners, playing in a compact unit. Something which the likes of Basile in his second stint and others seemingly forgot about until Sabella rest his soul turned up. Scaloni nearly ballsed up the World Cup too with his mad substitutions policy. He took forever to bring in Martinez, Romero, Enzo, Alexis and Julian when their club form demanded it. Was it because they weren't playing for a glamorous club ? Romero was ignored at Atalanta, Alexis at Brighton and so on.
You can bet the fat crook is living it up with his buddies in some six star facility. It's horrible how this creature continues with his chums to piggyback off the seleccion. When will we get a proper leader at the AFA who has morals and scruples and does what is best for Argentine football ? Can you imagine Sorin, Batigol or Zanetti around. That's what I would want.
I'd take Capaldo. The issue is Montiel and Molina. Are they really fit ? We have so many questions over so many players unlike 22. I have a bad feeling about this tournament like 2010 when we had a joker as a coach and 2018 where the coach turned into a joker and both so called coaches made the most bizarre selections.
Dont worry too much. I dont have bad feeling about Saudi game, but the opposite happened. When Diego's took charged, we went on to lose 4 games in qualifier ,including 6-1 loss to Bolivia. We didnt qualify until a scrappy goal againts Uruguay in last fixture. 2018 wasnt much different. We barely qualified through Messi's hattrick in final game. So the writing was on the wall. This time we qualified comfortably (much like in 2014), beating Uruguay & thrashed Brazil last year and has won 4 actual trophies, not ESPN pre tournament fav trophy. Saying we're going to crash out badly because Scaloni didnt act exactly like we wanted would be just a negative attitude.
De todos modos, Scaloni… pic.twitter.com/2EejTdlZkX— Bruno González García (@gonzalezbruno) June 10, 2026 If it's Buendia... I would take. If Paredes is rumored to be back to the training then I do not see why Guido would be necessary. Barco can play in RDP's spot. That was clear. Pala can occupy Paredes' spot. Pala usually plays in RDP's area, so I think everything is covered. Guido would not be needed. Perrone would've been a far better option with his passing and pressing. Not sure what Guido would bring other than being superstitious and gathering the old gang for one last hurrah...
From what the media is saying, it’s between Giay and Guido. Aside from their natural positions, both can play as a stopper in a back of 3/5, or at least that's what they say. I’ve never seen Guido play there, though
What is the state of Montiel and Molina going full pelt ? I'd take Capaldo over Giay as Capaldo can at a pinch play in CM if needed. Ideally if I could possess Scaloni I would announce Lo Celso and Paredes are leaving the team and Perrone and Buendia are coming and that Capaldo replaces Molina or Montiel.....Lo Celso is leaving the team because he is a pecho frio and Paredes hotel mirrors are simply not big enough. Tremendous media party ensues. Hopes rise again.....
The decision has not been confirmed and if it does I would be as bewildered as the next guy. But as I always said we can critique and have trust in him. Like Pep circa 2009-2012... no one else Id rather have as a manager.
“Vi muchas mentiras… gente hablando cosas que no eran de la lesión” Nico Paz ya está pegándole y poniendo en su lugar a los periodistas mala leche, lleva el argentinismo en su sangre pic.twitter.com/7aMN1no4mM— Modo Scaloneta 🇦🇷🏆 (@ModoScaloneta) June 10, 2026 Confirmed- Paz reads BS: Argentina as well.
Is it too late to include Di Maria as Balerdi’s replacement? The guy still has it in him and has the respect/fear of our rivals… definitely could still add something to the squad, especially when you see some of the other names considered. Shame he was so true to his word about quitting the NT
Angelito is a great great player and I think unlike the other veterans Messi excluded he could provide something very vital. But he also is a man of his word and it takes a great deal of fibre to do what he did. He said I've done my piece (and he was a truly great big game player at club and national level) now it's for others to take up the mantle. It's a shame some of the others doin't have the same mindset. Sure who wouldn't want to play at a World Cup maybe even triumph again. If you did you would be more than legendary. But at the same time it also takes a great deal of inner virtue to say. I'm not the same as I was and I won't something bigger than me alone to succeed.
Looks like the first wave of foreigners has arrived and they’re geeking over Big Gulps, Taco Bell, and Twinkies https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/foreign-fifa-fans-hilarious-reactions-to-american- Wait til they find out about In-N-Out
He and Messi are the only two players who has won u20, Olympics, Finalissima, CA (2x) & WC. He also has won CL. I dont keep tracks of his record but I think has over 36-37 trophies , that's actually more than CR. I dont blame him when he wanted to bow out at the top with the NT.
Aaaaaaaand the WC is here! In honor of the group stage kicking off, lets take it back to when everyone was ready to chop off Scaloni’s (and the entire Scaloneta’s) head halfway into the group stage! Sometimes I forget just how bad it really was! Thank god for Julian and Enzo, because this was about to make 2002 look like a success!
