They already lucky enough to even reached semi in 2018 and 2026.

Losing to Messi's Argentina in WC semifinal is a huge blow which they'll never recover. They have to live with the fact that two best Argentines defeats them at WC knockout stage.

 

I'm pretty sure they can recover. There is no room for complacency in international football.

The African sides are improving albeit with a little help from the European academies. We've seen how Japan has made tremendous strides how the game will grow and keep growing in North America and Australia.

And we've seen how former powerhouses can stagnate assuming they will always be around the top of the game like Italy and Germany. I will say this nearly all the top teams in England don't just have an overseas head coach they also have them at youth level. Youth football here is going down the skills route and it's starting to show.

Despite losing this week England have been to two semi-finals in the last three World Cups. That is not all luck. You could say that about any side. Never mind the route that is progress too and they are having success at youth level not because they are bigger and stronger as was the case but because there has been a definite technical improvement.

Skilled players like Hoddle. Frank Worthington (look him up you would like him a real maverick) are more trusted than before whereas in the past they were looked at as being casual and a threat to the system.

 

Nah , they lost 3 times in WC 2018 so it was a fluke run. Their first two games were against Tunisia and Panama , that's Tapia's level friendlies.

The first strong side they faced was Belgium in third group game and then Croatia in semifinal and the Belgium in third place game, they lost all of them.

The fact is , England has not beaten any powerhouse nation since 1966 at KO stage. Until that change, then there's no real improvement there other than occasional fluke runs. Yea, they reached back to back Euro finals but Greece, Denmark, Soviet and Czechoslovakia has won this tournament.

 

I can't wait for these 2 teams to play in a hot and humid Miami heat.
