Haha I did the exact same thing. I bought a pair of Adidas Equipment SG cleats with the ceramic tipped screw-ins. They were even a half-size too big and painful on my feet b/c they were too narrow, but I got them on closeout from Acme Soccer & Widget Works (anyone remember that catalog from the 90s?) and made a point to wear them whenever the pitch was wet. I played horribly in them. Couldn't roll the ball at all, dragged my toe into the dirt on shots and walked off the field in pain every time. I really, really wanted to look like the pros that I saw in World Soccer magazine (only magazine available in the US at the time that covered world soccer). I even grew my hair out and used a rubber band as a headband like Redondo and Caniggia.

Hey Decency thanks for your wonderful advice, after seeing your post i went to get myself some soccer socks, nothing special though, some standard mizuno long soccer socks. i tried the double socks thingy yesterday, wearing some normal socks under the long socks. No more blisters and heat spots and i feel less "slipage" inside the shoe? felt much more snug and secure !!

This reminds me, while shopping for socks i saw some interesting socks, called trusox, however the retail price was very high, however after feeling the difference of wearing a proper sock, my interest has been aroused. I did some searching here and the response was mixed, any advice?

I am also learning how to trap and hit a ball properly. I am starting to "trap" the ball with my instep, however i am having problems hitting the ball properly. i have been adviced to hit the ball with the hard bone on the top of my foot ala the laces but i cant seem to adapt and keep hitting the ball with my toes, with no accuracy at all, any advice?

A week ago I purchased a pair of Ryal La Storia AG boots (2011 model)( from an Italian eBay seller. They just arrived, but I feel like I may have gotten counterfeits. Either that, or Ryal was putting out a much lower quality product a few years ago. I actually sent out a link to the owner of Ryal on Twitter (@ardlammertink), and he thought they looked legit in the ad. The eBay seller has 100% feedback, provided a receipt and accept returns. I'm just confused.

Some of the weird things I noticed:
-the tongue is constructed of a thin synthetic leather + a cheap foam backing
-the inside is fully lined with padded nylon
-the ankle and heel areas are a fake synthetic leather
-stitching is full of imperfections, and looks machine processed
-rubber soleplate has a lot of imperfections in the cleats

    Here's the original eBay post:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/321355758588?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I also posted an unboxing video to see if I'd get any feedback from other Ryal owners:

I really like Trusox, but as you'll see on the Trusox thread there are a lot of varying opinions on them!

They're very expensive for what they are, but if foot slippage is an issue for you - maybe your feet are a little too small for your boots as you're in-between sizes - they're a great alternative to buying a new pair of boots whilst still getting that feel of an upgrade.

Striking the ball on the laces - it's something I had to work up to.

I started instep striking to keep it low and controlled before watching a lot of football to see how players strike it on their laces before learning about the more varying styles of striking like knuckle-balls etc.

    The absolute essentials are:

    - Eyes on your target
    - Head and Shoulders over the ball
    - Non-striking leg next to the ball
    - Knee over the ball as you strike

Hit up some Youtube channels and watch some tutorials; there's at least a couple of good ones from STR SkillSchool on the basics of striking that I think would really give you a lot to take on board.

No problem, glad I could help you. I wouldn't give a company £25 of my money for a pair of socks with some rubber bits attached to them. Mainly because between training and playing 7/5aside football with friends, I couldn't be arsed washing my socks every time to play. As you can probably tell I'm not big on gimmicks mate.

Woah @GrassRouteOne and @Decency, thanks for the wonderful insights given, apprecitate all the advices and comments. I have been at it these few weeks and my puma kings 2013 has broken in and now feels wonderful, no more heat spots, no more bites, no more blisters, and they feel like a treat to be in.

However, i still need to work on hitting the ball with the laces, i still have a tendency to hit the ball with my toes when i want to hit the ball hard. I have become better at passing the ball with the instep of my feet though, and its much more accurate then trying to pass the ball with my toe.

Why don't companies make top-end kids boots anymore? . Such as the adizero, puma speed line.

I just found an old pair of Gato's (at least 5 months) which have lost their shape. They were under a lot of stuff and the laces were tied really tight for some reason, so the boot is stuck in an odd shape. Is there any way to restore the boot back to it's original shape, at the moment it's almost unwearable.

Nike does with the Mercurials. The kids' version of Tiempo isn't bad either.

It doesn't come with ACC does it? Or have the glass fibre soleplate, I'd compare it to the victorys

No ACC, but the tejin upper is the same as the adult model I believe. My son has the lower tier for indoor and you can really notice the difference in the quality of the upper between the two. As for glass fibre soleplate, the kids' top-end version does have a hint of glass fibre in the middle portion of the sole, but it was the tejin upper that makes it.

Yea pretty sad. Their kids' top end ones aren't that great either, imho, at least for Nike. Adidas' ones are still not too bad. I have friends who usually buy the kids' versions (cuz their feet are small) and the upper comes apart from the soleplate over a short period of time, maybe 6 mths.

Hoping some1 can help.....more of an eBay Q but to do with boots.
    Won these here
I bid on them & totally forgot about it, thinking i wouldnt win but ended up winning with my only bid!!
Thought at 1st that they were the Speciali IT based on the pic & the description hence my bid but after winning & paying I've been looking at pics & i think i may have bought a take down model. They lack of the white "A" in the inside of the boot is my concern.
For the price i dont think i'll mind really but do i have any comeback with eBay when they have been described with the "retail of £80" (which would be true of the top tier boot) or would eBay not entertain me?
I know things can be disputed if they are fake but its really a "sold as seen" transaction isnt it?
Any advice would be great

I think they're just the old Speciali, pre-2009 'reset' (or reboot ;))

They probably did list for about £80 at one point as they were the 'top' Speciali at the time, so that's all above board.

It doesn't say 'sold as seen', but I'd say the description is fair and for a total of £7.99, is it really worth raising any sort of issue?

You could probably re-list them with a better description and make that back, and if eBay ruled you had to send them back they'd cost about a fiver to do so.

Cheers. Totally agree, for the price I can't & probably won't complain.
So these specialist IT are not what I've bought?? But still a top end boot
Are the ones above a sort of "elite" level speciali or a different release

The boots I'm considering are the Puma evopower 1, Nike hypervenom phantom, 2014, 2014 adidas f50 samba synthetic or 2014 adidas f50 samba leather. Also I wanted to know if buying fg studs or ag studs really matters. I play almost always on artificial grass but finding ag versions for a good price is trickier than fg and im not sure if its even worth it.

Of the bunch you're considering, I would say the evoPOWER are the least suitable for AG.

I love the evoPOWER, but like the evoSPEED, the toe just isn't built to withstand AG - it'll rub away pretty quickly and you'll be the sad.

The Hypervenom and F50's are both two solid choices, and if you're dead set on only having one pair of boots, both perform well on AG as they have very short FG studs.

First Factor: Fit. If you have wide feet; the 'Venoms are your only option. The synth F50's are very narrow unless you're willing to half a size up. Vice-versa if you're narrow.

Second: Knee issues. If you've had problems with knee injuries in the past, play it safe with the Phantoms as they have conical studs and won't 'grab' the turf as much as FG blades on the F50.

Finally, if you end up plumping for the Hypervenoms - go for one of the newer colourways: Hi-Vis pack and beyond. There were lots of durability issues with the first two versions, and they'll only be accelerated by artificial turf.

Now stop cross posting to all the other threads, ya big crazy.

Woahhhhh, slow down there hoss! That is one detailed post!

Alrighty - don't worry about your height or weight, they're out of the picture.

First off - if you've enjoyed the Puma v-Series in the past, evaluate why you liked it; if it was the fit, go for the evoSPEED. Both are very narrow, ergonomic shoes whilst the PowerCat is much wider - you'd notice the difference on your feet, immediately.

Both boots feel great for shooting, but the PowerCat has the edge as the side off-set lacing is nice to catch the ball with.

Now, go stop worrying about the boots so much and go practice!

i am not proffesional player lol i play at the street , school etc .
which shoes are better for defender with good pass ? evopower \ powercat ? or maybe the evospeed ..
i didnt like anything at v-55 because i dont understand about it anything so i cant Assume what is good shoot or pass shoes just to hope that what i purchase is good , for right now from what i see the shoes is durable as well .
does the evospeed really increase your speed or its just bullshit ? shoots are not Meaningless for me because anyway i have bad shoots and average i shooting maybe 3-4 three times .. its more important to me to pass and defend as well
