He'll get minutes in USL to start. If he plays well, he'll move up on the bench. I think SKC will be good for his development, regardless of what level he plays at, just because I trust Vermes and their franchise in general.

MLS is not exactly the right league for a slightly-built, somewhat slow, finesse thinking type. And that's who he could have become, had all things gone into place.

Rzatkowski is exactly that player and he's doing fine in New York.

Depends on the team. SKC might be the only one I trust to know what they're doing with that type of player.

Yes. Despite his skill on the call, Zelalem isn’t actually that useful on the field because he isn’t creative and aggressive enough to be a 10, lacks the work rate to be an 8, or the bite to be a 6.

He needs to improve one of those aspects to have a good career. Improving defense is the most realistic.

Apparently, NYCFC doesn't know what to do with theirs. Parks was an unused sub.

Different player, but the concept is that Parks has the skill to be a 10? The other two points seem to match him as well

Parks makes the pass faster than Gedion.

Which, as i asked, makes him the better potential 10? He has the same deficiencies

Concerned whether Parks can really have the motor to go all game as a 10 at that height, tbh. There's a reason you don't see a lot of 6'4" midfielders. We'll see.

In any event, GZ will be judged on his own merits.

If the plan is to make GZ a "true" MLS DM I'm wondering if they bought a different GZ. He possibly has the skills to play a deep-lying playmaker type, or maybe a CM at the point of a triangle 3 man midfield in a 4-3-3 - but if the thinking is he's going to do any serious ball-winning or play-disrupting - I admit I haven't seen him outside of a few clips since the Ereste and Gers, but that seems, uh, not realistic or the best use of his skills. Next to/in front of a ball-winner in a 4 perhaps, but any kind of "real" MLS-type DM... I guess we'll see.

Guy is 5'11, 140lbs. and slightly built. Try to make him a ball-winning DM in MLS and he'll get his knee busted again.

They could view him as a Jorgino type. Someone who moves the ball quickly

Does Vermes have a history of toughening up or bulking up his players?

I don't know how KC plays their holding middle, but if he's a "deploying playmaker" type with a DM partner, that is not insane.

As a "lone" DM it's not gonna work, as the guy you play the ball through, it has more possibilities. I think his best role is as a "non-wing" outside AM, but if he has a DM behind him and strong CDs it's possible.

Ball at 5:08 - if he can do that consistently.

So, you've said he can't defend and he doesn't have the bite for DM. But it's the easiest thing for him to improve, so that's why they bring him in with the intent to play DM? You don't bring a player in at a position he's no good at because it's the thing he has the best chance to improve at. They must have a slightly different role intended for him. Deep lying playmaker maybe? Doubt he'll be a success as a ball winning/ play disrupting DM.
