And yet no Coldplay. I think the best name on there is Sufjan Stevens. Here is a guy who makes Christian albums and plays in a Christian band from time to time.
That list is hilarious. And they're soliciting emails if you know of other gay bands or bands that propogate a gay message. I just emailed them Carrie Underwood.
Ha! I just checked out their "Safe Bands" list. A bunch of Christian bands and Cyndi Lauper. Apparently they don't know that "She Bop" is about masturbation.
I think that alot of people sent e-mails as jokes. I mean: Frank Sinatra Metallica Ghostface Killah Jay-Z This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. PS: Elton John is on there twice. Is it to emphasize his gayness?
Boy George has an asterix next to his name but there is nothing on the page I could find that says what that could mean.
I sent the guy this e-mail: Dear sir, I would first like to thank you for the great service you are doing to the good, Christian families of America in their effort to propigate the values that have made this country great on the new generation of leaders. With the devotion of sites like yours, we can look forward to many more years of value-driven leaders such as the great George W. Bush leading this nation into continued world eminence. I would first like to suggest some bands/artists for your "gay" list: Wu-Tang Clan The Beach Boys The Clash U2 Nas The New Pornographers (the name gives it away) Public Enemy And these bands could be added to your rather sparse safe list, which needs expansion, in order to offer children safe alternatives to the filth that pervades mass culture. Here are a few underground Christian acts that many have not heard of, but should break out onto the scene in a few years. The Velvet Underground Television Sonic Youth Sleater-Kinney Pavement Neutral Milk Hotel Joy Division Gang of Four Dinosaur Jr. Fugazi ...And You Will Know Us by Trail of Dead ------------------------------------------ In the gay list, I put ones he'd probably know weren't fit for the safe list, and given his apparent trend, I don't think he'll know who any of the people in the safe list are. I just want to hear 'Days of Being Wild' played in some conservative Midwestern household while the kid is on the computer being observed by his parents.
How the hell can Man or Astroman promote a gay agenda? They are an instrumental band. Are there gay chords?
I didn't know there was a band called "Cole Porter." He missed Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Leonard Bernstein and Marc Blitzstein. Frank Sinatra??? Where's Liberace!!!
Someone should alert them to Mark Mothersbaugh. His signature tune is a song called Jocko Homo. He's also known for doing the incidental music to Rugrats. Oh, what a confusing world we live in.
Disappointing that Sissor Sistors are only the second gayest band on that list. And my how Erasure has fallen.
