I must have missed something. Why isn't Garlick starting? He used to be one of the best goalkeepers in the league. Has he not recovered sufficiently from surgery?

I believe I saw his hand bandaged up around the thumb. Maybe he's still having effects from breaking it last year.

There was a picture of the Rapids visiting kids at a hospital during Rapids week and Garlick had his hand all wrapped up.

After his performance two weeks ago, I think he needs to earn his spot back.

I think we need to start looking for another goalie. maybe we can use our allocation for a good one. Last game scared the living #$@$%# out of me.

I think Vallow did fine... There aren't many, if any, keepers who could have stopped the Etcheverry goal. It might have looked better if Vallow hadn't been back on his heels when it came, but that was a rocket... and the fact is that the Rapids defense broke down in giving DC the opportunity. If there's blame to be handed out, I'd start there.

His decisions on coming off the line weren't always solid, but he made some good saves later in the game. For a first showing, I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of.

    Garlick Out - Walker In

The Rapids should consider Jonny Walker. Walker was courted by the Divequakes, but the deal fell through. Walker is still open to playing in the MLS and would make a great addition to the team.

Plus, Walker would not take up an international slot :)

Thinking of Johnny Bin Walker and Mexican soccer this weekend, I got to thinking of Johnny Walker, expat GK, and why are there not any American GK in the Mexican league? Noone disputes the quality of American GKs, and the money and willingness of Mexican soccer to bring in quality foreigners.

But for that to happen, the Mexicans would have to admit that an American was better. That's hard for them to do.

For what its worth, I was talking this morning about the game with some colleagues at work, all of us DCU fans of course, and we all thought Vallow was the MOTM -- he had no chance on the Etcheverry goal, and there aren't many keepers around who can stop Stoitchkov twice on break-aways. If you guys want to Vallow him out, ship him here.

You got it, if we get Rimando. Heck, you can have Garlick back, too.

No thanks, we'll stick with Nick. Just wanted to take Vallow off your hands to give you a little salary cap room.
