    Here is the NYT article.
    http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/sports/AP-SOC-MLS-Cup-Garber.html

    10 more teams.

    Here is my prefered list

    Seattle
    Rochester
    Phildelphia
    Tulsa
    New York 2
    Portland
    Atlanta
    Houston
    Minnie/St Paul
    Cleveland
    North Carolina

Move KC. How about San Diego? SJ can stay, if they get the bucks for a real stadium.

    Keep the 2 Divisions:
West: LA, SJ, KC(or where ever)Denver, Seattle, Portland
    Tulsa, Dallas, Houston, Twin Cities.

East: NY 1 and 2, NE, DC, Rochester, Philly, Atlanta, Columbus, Cleveland, North Carolina

Not nitpicking as I don't like Chicago but you have 11 new teams and left the Fire out.

why, yes I did. I guess I got mixed up thinking that they have been playing in Naperville.

Erase Minnie St Paul and put the Fire back in.

Also, the idea is to see your list.

    Got one?

that's right. It's not going to happen because of Hunt, with all that he has put into soccer, there is no way that they are going to move that team.

and why not put a team in St. Louis? That's a great soccer community.

No, it's not going to move because they're one of the strongest franchises, financially. It would make vastly more sense to move the Metro, or DCU.

Did you read the part of the article where it says they have lost half as much money this year as last?

What does that say about the 2 Florida teams? They were responsible for that much money?

That is why where the pick next to go is so important.

    Choose wisely, grasshopper.

No Tampa, St-Pete, Miami, Orlando, or Jacksonville team? I guess the MLS is less optimistic or trusting of the sunshine state.

What was the last successful pro franchise in Florida in any league not the NFL? It is a waste of time and effort. MLB would be running from FL if they could.

    Those are intriguing picks.
Do you think that Southern Jersey would support its own team? They would be an interesting rival for Philly.

Also, has anyone heard anything about the Newark NJ team idea, lately?

Trenton isn't going to happen. The piece of land that the gorup there wanted to use is being used for something else. It would have been great, but it can't happen now. Trenton really isn't South Jersey. It's sort of in between. If Trenton had a team, I don't see a team in Philly. Trenton is too far from most of SJ to get those fans interested. I also don't see people in the Northern suburbs of Philly supporting a Jersey team. It's odd, but it wouldn't happen. A team in Philly gets lots of support on both sides of the river though.

i'm happy to think of bringing my grandson to see these twenty clubs play in 30 years, but i'd rather see some good stadium news that would give me a warm fuzzy about the CURRENT stability of our league!

MLS is crazy for not trying to develop San Diego. It is a good size market and the stadium situation will surely clear up in the next 2 years.

I think you'll see them go whereever they get help for a stadium, just like the other professional sports do.

They learned some lessons about playing in somebody else's stadium and how much rent can take away from your bottom line (while leaving all the concession and parking profits with somebody else).

The All-Star Game was hardly promoted in SD. Plus with no team and very little bonding with MLS, the All-Star game was built for failure.

Look at SD's past in hosting international friendlies. I am sure we have had more than 5 matches which have drawn 45,000 or more. SD is one of the Mexican national team's favorite spots for hosting games.

If these Internationals prove anything its that there is no carry over to the Viabilty of a MLS team.

    2. Philly (east)

    2nd
    3. Oklahoma (west)
    4. Rochester (east)

    3rd
    5. Minneapolis (west)

    7. Houston (west)
    8. Atlanta (east)

    9. Phoenix (west)
    10. Detroit (east)

With the 20 teams the Conferences will be broken into 2 subdivisions

    West
    1. LA
    2. SJ
    3. Seattle
    4. Phoenix
    5. Denver

    Central
    1. KC
    2. Houston
    3. Dallas
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Minneapolis

    East
    1. NY
    2. DC
    3. NE
    4. Philly
    5. Rochester

    Midwest / South
    1. Colombus
    2. Chicago
    3. Detroit
    4. Atlanta
    5. North Carolina

A bit tricky for the last division.

Rivarlies are important and need to be considered when adding new franchises. Small market teams are good as well in my opinion.

Seattle - Seattle is a must.
Dallas - they need a rivalry, Oklahoma or Houston. I think Oklahoma is a better 1st choice.
Rochester - If their team beats NY they can say there at least better in soccer.
North Carolina - great soccer area, need to expand in the south.

Yes, but they also slashed the rosters to 18 and played less games. You would think that helped. Also, what's the scoop on revenue for the World Cup. Didn't the MLS buy the US broadcast rights & then sell them to ABC/ESPN/ESPN2? How much did that help out with the bottom line? NO matter what, until they're a publicly traded company it's only speculation.

I'd like to only see one club in the Northwest and at that in Seattle. Tulsa? Maybe. But not Tulsa, North Carolina (where? Charlotte? RD?), and Portland. Too many small markets. Give me Detroit. Give me St. Louis, San Diego or Phoenix. Also, in New York City is a must. That's just too big of a market to leave served with a single team.

You must be forgetting the crowds that Luis Hernandez helped bring to MLS.
