Hey, I was wondering what the popular TV chanels are for watching European soccer. Being from America you can hardly ever find any games from any of the top Euro leagues on TV...besides Fox Sports World which isnt that great anyways. Are there any other chanels that show more action that are available by satelitte or anything that you guys know of. Thanks.
Every Tuesday at 2:30 ESPN2 ( ya the one on basic channel, dont pay anything extra its just on!) Plays a champions League match. I rush home from school to watch it.
Champions League Yes, ESPN2 does carry one or two matches a week. As the tournament moves into Late Winter and early Spring, ESPN2 usually carries live one match on each day. I live on the west coast so the matches come on at 11:30 in the morning. I'm working at that hour, but I tape the games and watch them when I get home from work or later in the evening. Because local and even national sports media outlets in the USA all but ignore soccer I never know the score. And I listen to Sports talk shows up the kazoo here in Los Angeles and believe me they don't talk soccer. Heck, they don't even know what the Champions League is. But as it turns out that works to my advantage because I can rewind the tape, watch the match and never worry about knowing what the final score was. Unless of course I go online; then I find out. So I stay off the computer until I watch the game. I don't cheer for any particular club; I just enjoy watching great soccer. I only cheer on the LA Galaxy and I love MLS better than any league in the world merely because it's our own homegrown product. Sorry, I can't cheer on players and clubs that are a "zillion" miles away, but I do enjoy watching them. The Champions league is real high class soccer.
Thanks..I wonder if theres is some sort of package you can get that gives you games from all of the major leagues...like that gives you action from all the top euro leagues on seperate chanels or something.
Nike, All of the major leagues and tournaments are available in the US through different channels/sources, etc. Champions League - ESPN2 (Tuesdays only) UEFA Cup - 1 game per round on Fox Sports World (FSW) as well as FSW Espanyol (FSWe) Spain - FSW + FSWe delayed only Germany - FSW + FSWe usually live 2 games per weekend England Premiership - FSW + FSWe (Weekends 2 hour delay; weekdays live) Scotland Premiership - FSW (several days delay) Italy - RAI (via Dish Network) France - TV5 (Dish Network) Portugal - RTPi (1 game per weekend; SPT/Globecast 4 games per round) I can fill up this page with all the different services available to get additional leagues such as Turkey, Argentina, Brazil etc. but then you get into additional satellite dishes; digital receivers, etc. To keep it very simple, if you can put up a small satellite dish (18 inches) for Dish Network, you can get FSW as well as subscribe to season packages to the English Premiership and have certain Pay-Per-View games available for an additional fee. It also makes available RAI and RTPi for those leagues. It gets a little expensive when you start adding packages. If you can't put up a dish, check with your local cable company if they offer FSW. Many cable companies offer broadband digital service which may have FSW. There is also the option of putting up an ExpressVu system from Canada but you need a Canadian address (friend/broker). This would add FSW Canada, Sportnet and TSN to you system and consequently live Premeiership as opposed to delayed, and Wednesday Champions League games. Just giving you the basics here because I don't know your situation but to sum things up - plenty of soccer available in the US. If you want to share what your situation is, I'll be glad to give you more info. socceraction PS. Check out sites like worldsoccervision dot com and soccertv dot com to get a feel what is out there.
