I hope to be able to add comments on each place eventually, with links, etc. To be honest the only place I've been to so far is Nino's in Harrison, which has good pizza and Italian. Owner is a RB ST holder and they have a big screen in one room with soccer on, so that's nice.
Good suggestion to note who is a season ticket holder... all else being equal, I would frequent those locations more often...
I have my 6 year old son. I used Yelp and citysearch to get a better idea for kid friendly places and it looks like Ferry St. Barbeque at 89 Ferry St (corner of Congress), Mi Pequeno Mexico at 81 Ferry St, Hamburgao at 288 Lafayette St, Nino's Pizza in Harrison near the Path stop all look like good kid friendly and good food places. I have not been to any of these but they look good from the comments and kid friendly. The 1st two look like the best ones or the Pizza place.
I am not that familiar with the area but looking at that map, it seems to me there is no way i am walking across that bridge from food/drink to the stadium especialy with kids on foot. someone suggested they all walking distance.
Well you'll probably end up eating at the stadium for the time being then, because the area immediately around the stadium is nothing but dirt and asphalt. It's a short walk across, but if it seems like too much of a trek they are also providing a free shuttle which I assume you could use.
I don't mind walking 1-3 miles is nothing for us but.......I remember that bridge when we went to pick out our seats. That bridge didnt look like something i want to walk on, crowded with cars tight and i don't even remember a sidewalk. i WOULDN'T SUGGEST IT TO FAMILIES. I usualy eat at Green St Cafee when we go to Devils games, if they have a shuttle from there i'll do that for now.
There's a sidewalk on the bridge. Check out Google Maps Street View if you'd like to see for yourself.
where is the best place to get drunk near the stadium. I think there needs to be a massive group of people walking into the stadium from the pub.
Check with your rep as to where the shuttle will be stopping. You should not have to walk across the bridge.
Thanks for being so helpful. The simple answer would have been, no there is not going to be tailgating at this time, as most parking areas won't allow open flames and people parking outside of the lines
As you may have just noticed, even though there will be no open flames allowed in any parking garages near the stadium, that is NOT the case with these boards. Flame away...
Since he's actually a friend of mine in real life rather than just another internet poster, I'll answer him however I please. Kindly mind your own business
but you didn't chip in, you stated the reasons behind why tailgating isn't allowed and then implied I should have answered the same way rather than letting Roehl know where we'll be tailgating.
Then stay on the north side. Nino's is just north of I-280 on the right in a strip mall. The kids can eat pizza & it has a liquor license as well. There is a separate casual dining room.
I've never even been to Harrison yet. But I remember someone saying that Bello's has 100 different beers. Should be some nifty micros in there
One of the restaurants on that Google map, Baliza at 75 Kearny Avenue, used to be a bar that was owned by Archie Stark, who is arguably the greatest soccer player to come from the Harrison-Kearny area (he once scored 67 goals in a single season in the American Soccer League).
