Who: Seattle Sounders vs. New York Red Bulls Where: Red Bull Arena, Harrison, NJ When: 1PM, Sunday, July 15 Watch: ESPN Listen: 97.3 KIRO FM, La Gran D 99.3 FM Booya! We're on a three game undefeated streak! Suck it 9 game winless streak! This should be a goals aplenty game with the Red Bulls not only scoring the third most goals (32), but also allowing the fourth most goals (27). The Red Bulls also have 2 of the top 5 goal scorers in the league on their team, so it should, at a minimum, be an entertaining game. The question is, which Sounders will show up? The 9 game winless streak Sounders, or the 3 game undefeated streak Sounders. The 9 game winless streak Sounders were hapless in front of the goal both defensively and offensively. the 3 game undefeated streak Sounders have found ways to score goals, while minimizing the brain farts and allowing goals. The really good news is that Gspurning is likely to be between the pipes in this game according to Sigi. However, he's going to be crazy rusty as he only just started playing with the first squad this week and will likely need some time to knock of the rust and get the backline back in the shape it was in at the start of the season. And have I mentioned that for the second game in a row we don't have anyone suspended? I know, shocking, but it is true! However, that might not be the case for the Rapids game on July 28 (*sputter* OMG, 13 days until our next meaningful game?? We'd better win this or the bloodshed will be epic) as both EJ and Montero are sitting on 1 YC until a YC accumulation suspension.
I'm feeling cocky. We're going with the full monty here. *pose* Okay, now that you are all busy puking and being blinded by the trauma, here's Yoshou's Guaranteed to be Wrong predicted line-up: -------- Johnson --------- Montero -------- Fernandez --- Evans/Alonso --- Rosales Burch --------- Ianni/Parke -----Johansson ----------------- Gspurning ----------------- We may also see Rosales and Evans switching positions. However, while that does seem to give us more offensive punch, it also seems like we're leaky as hell at back when that happens.
WTF... Montero riding pine again... ---------Johnson--------Rosales----- Fernandez---Rose/Alonso---Evans Burch---------Ianni/Parke----Johansson -----------------Meredith--------------- Gspurning also isn't in the 18...
That was a total dirtbag move by Alonso. But isn't it kind of ironic seeing Henry complaining about it?
Havent seen anything explaining why Montero did not start so it makes me believe he maybe moving on, even more..
Montero didn't start last game and Sounders won? Sigi has a habit of riding a horse into the ground if it is working. Also, if Montero were on the way out, would he be playing at all?
Well yea. why wouldnt Seattle use him as much as they can before selling him? Its probably a sign that they are in negotiations to sell him. They wont stop using him until its almost officially done in order to keep him from being injured, which is part of the strategy in this. (atleast thats my guess)
Perhaps.. Perhaps.. But I still think it is Sigi not wanting to mess with the lineup that was working for the Sounders.. He's been known to do that. Back in 2010, he benched Fernandez for the last half of the season because the Sounders were winning with Nyassi as RW.. This is despite the Sounders just paying $1 million for him...
Sounders were lucky to get a point out of this one. Too many good chances given up to New York and a possible hand ball in the box not called on Alonso. Can't complain about the result today.
And a draw... I'll take it with the steaming pile of crap our defense was tonight... Both goals were preventable if our defense doesn't pull WTF moves...
Can't complain about the draw, missed a few great chances in the first half, but Alonso could have easily been sent off with a pk. We were dangerous everytime in the final third, but due to our crap defense I kind of understand why we didn't try and bring more players forward. Oh and get Gspurning out there asap.
