Who: Seattle Sounders @ Chivas USA Where: Home Depot Center, Carson, CA When: 7:30 PM, Saturday, 5/26 Watch: KING5, THIS TV (Espanol) Listen: 97.3 KIRO FM, La Gran D 99.3 FM Well, Wednesday night happened... Let's hope what this team needs is a nice road trip down to sunny California to get off the slide that they are currently on. The good news is that much like the Sounders, Chivas are a better road team(3W-2D-1L) than they are a home team(1W-oD-5L), so the Sounders have that working in their favor. On the downside, Chivas has retooled their team this week by adding Danny Califf in a trade with Philly and Juan Agudelo in a trade with NYRB. So, the theory is that there already pretty decent defense has gotten better and their piss poor offense is at least respectable now. I think this game all comes down to how well the Sounders do in the final third. I suspect our defense will be able to hold Chivas to at most 1 goal, but with our case of the "can't finish" coming back to bite the team in the ass the last few games, the question is whether or not the offense will be able to break down Chivas's defense. I'm quite hopeful the answer to this question is yes.
It's angry fist shake time. Just when we started to get over the injury bug, Johansson pulls his other quad and is back on the IR. However, with how Johansson has been playing defensively since he came back and how good Scott was doing while he was out, perhaps this isn't a bad thing? Additionally, while I don't remember the play myself, I've heard that Ozzie was damned lucky to not see red last night and there is a high likelihood that he'll be getting a suspension from the DC for a two footed, studs up tackle on a Crew player. With that in mind, here is Yoshou's Guaranteed to be Wrong Predicted Line-up: ----------Johnson----Montero----------- Fernandez---Evans/Carrasco---Rosales Gonzalez-----Parke/Hurtado-----Scott ------------------Meredith------------------
Hopefully Ozzie doesn't go to the DisCo ifyaknowwhatI'msayin Let's ******** some Goats. wait I mean...
yup, Ozzie is out, Josh just confirmed it on the seattle times blog, ugh. i'm cautiously optimistic that the boys will be fired up & ready to steal 3 points for us
I'm not sure it's going to be "steal". We certainly aren't as good without Alonso, but Carrasco is a very serviceable back-up to Alonso and we should be starting the game with the other 5 starting midfielders/forwards.
I really dislike how Sigi always pulls Flaco at 60.... Never mind... Feel free to pull Flaco for Caskey anytime, Sigi.
Is it just me, or does EJ kind of suck as a team player? I've noticed several instances where he's ignored chances for teammates to acknowledge him, ie ignoring Rose's attempted hand slap when e was subbed in.
Caskey gets an assist on his firt touch after replacing Flaco. I love Flaco, but he is not firing on all thrusters and seems to think he needs to go elsewhere to accomodate his international plans. Landon is obviously feeling stale and indifferent at club level and obviously still a good enough player to score goals at international level. My ridiculous suggestion of Fernandez for Donovan gets less ridiculous all the time. And, by the way, good for Caskey and Estrada.
shame is only getting 1 point from Chivas and the Crew. Neither has a tenth of the creativity and talent of this team. Sincerely, Uppity Sounders fan
The win would have been nice but loved that goal. I've been whining all season about lack of creative dynamic connecting on offense. I have to take minute to celebrate it when I see it. Montero to Estrada, back to Montero - while Estrada tears off for the goal, Montero to Caskey, Caskey to Estrada. Bingo. I could watch that one all night long!
I've seen/saw that too but if you notice he was congratulating Estrada when he scored and EJ was not on field yet. I think he is one of those guys that his intensity comes with a flavor of anger in his emotions on the field.
LOL! You guys are good. I was very impressed by your team. We were slightly lucky to get a point. Sincerely, Pyscho Goat Fan
