FOREST LADIES LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM Do we know if the Freedom will field a patchwork team? Any info?
I spoke with Mark Bushman from www.onthesidelines.org a few days ago, and he said the Freedom will play Nottingham on July 16th down in Richmond as part of a doubleheader w/ the men's game. He got that directly from the President of the Kickers, so that's pretty reliable info...
Actually, they're now going to play on July 14th at RFK as a lead-in to the DC United/Nottingham Forest game. The DC United press release just came out.
Finally, we get a banner. I was wondering when/if that would ever happen. For those of you who don't know, when Ron left DC Kevin Parker and I agreed to step up and run the Crusaders in 2004. Then the league went under, of course, so that was that. So my suggestion would be to buy tickets for the doubleheader in La Norte, Section 120 for DC United games.
At least you have to give the folks at RFK credit for not taking down the large "Washington Freedom" banner.
I definitely do. DCU had a lot more respect for the Freedom than the WUSA did for United, from my observation.
Amen! It still rankles. Of course, I will try to take off from work early that day to catch the Freedom game. I'll see if I can set up the red and blue La Norte banner. Sachin
Somehow I don't think it'll matter; there won't be that red and blue WUSA bunting with the Maytag Autograph Alley advertising on it.
Carrie expects that "eight or nine" of the regular Freedom players will show up for this one, which would be the most I've seen this season. No national teamers, however.
I've been waiting for that banner. I'll be there with my daughter and one of her former college team mates. I took a week of vacation from my job (lots of travel) so I'd be in town for these games. Some day, in better times, we will again see the Washington Freedom, this time sharing a SSS, front office, training facilities and fan loyalty with DC United. Until then, we'll at least have the banner reminding us of what was.
If you can't, I can try to leave work early, but I had to take today off to fly back from Chicago so I can really only afford to give up an hour wednesday and leave downtown at 4.
Is it possible that you could do something along the lines of having the tickets at will call until 6 for the Freedom game, then go pick them up and have them at the booth for the people who come for the United game?
i just had a question. if i can only go to the freedom game..and i have to leave right after, do i pay for any admission or tickets? i know there is a ticket if i was going to the united game..but any $ for the freedom one?
