Lol, so much for consistency already. I guess he at least is playing players in their preferred position.
Nagbe should be starting at RM instead of Zusi. Maybe Nagbe doesn't train well. But on pure quality and strengths, RM in a 4-1-2-3 would suit him well.
at least he isnt going sigi and playing dempsey on the wings as he gives no defensive cover. Should be able to win with this lineup
4 days ago Zusi wasn't good enough to be on the roster. Now he's going to save our World Cup campaign. OK, then. Nagbe sitting there like, "Really, dude?" Well, at least it isn't Diskerud. So there's that.
I have been sceptical of JK more or less since always. But I have to say that in my current state of mind(lessness), I am digging this approach. Yes, Nagbe or Lee N. should be in the Zusi role, but this is the type of proactive tactics Klinsmann's advocates were hailing way back when. Go USA
I'm really worried about the totality of 5 changes, that lack of creation from the attacking wings, Zardes in the lineup in a possession style, Wood inexplicably moving out of the CF spot, asking Dempsey to be mostly a poacher, Zusi all of a sudden thrust into a starting role when he's a fringe national teamer in the first place and just joined camp, and after bringing in Birnbaum not just leaving Gonzalez and putting Cameron up at CDM instead of Beckerman. Klinsmann is thoughtless. He does so much random, unempathetic crap. Only aspect I like is the 4-3-3, attacking from the wing vs. a bunker, but I worry about the fits. I hope it works out well enough. I am more scared than when I was making predictions for this game. I have faith Dempsey will do what he can from that position, but might need to get a couple on set pieces from Birny and co. in the end.
Beckerman is my least favorite choice, but don't think his weaknesses get exploited and get what he brings.
Birnbaum scares me a tad, but last cycle we threw the barely capped Matt Besler into a key qualifier and I guess that worked out.
It is a relatively safe line- up. Defensively, I would worry more about Wood- Yedlin on right side than Castillo-Zardes. Hopefully, we have Guat on their heels and don't have too much worry defensively.
I don't care if we win 1-0 on a 90' + 4 goal that goes off both posts and the back of the Guatemalan keeper's head before it barely crosses the line...as long as we win.
I don't feel like you'll be thinking that at the time sweating bullets and then in the post-game reflection considering how it translates to subsequent games.
I think Zardes-Castillo is a bit of a scary FB combo defensively but it has potential to be a lot of fun
Nagbe finally eligible and he doesn't start over Zusi? This isn't 2012. Beckerman probably won't hurt us tonight, need new options at his position. Zardes
Eh it's survive and advance right now. We have 6 months to reflect after that before the next qualifier
