@JasonMa how many times has the RMC be won by retention and how many times in a loss

Salt Lake retained it as holders 3 times, this is the first time we've done it. This is the first time its been awarded when the winning team lost the game.

And I'm going to take this chance, as one of the original founders, to close the barn door after the horses have bolted. We never really intended the Cup to be "won" in this situation. It was more meant to be a draw but the Cup has to live somewhere the following season so the current holders would retain it because it seemed wrong to award the Cup to the other team when they didn't "win" it. But the initial draws in 2008 and 2010 got recorded as wins by Salt Lake and now we're kind of stuck with the tradition.

(I, for one, would be all for retroactively fixing this by adding a "tied" column on the trophy but I'm assuming Salt Lake fans would want us to "win" it by retention at least one more time so its close to an equal impact on the overall record)

He was. He has a very, very, short fuse. He cut me off to go to the Spanish speaker questions. By the time I tried to ask a question it had been going on pretty long so that’s the way it goes. Not the first time it’s happened to me or others. Never the real media, which is how it should be, but the rest of us amateurs… lol. Then the second guy asking in Spanish was going for another question and Trey just cut him off.

It does seem a bit unprofessional to not say hey, last question, but I haven’t been in any other post game press stuff besides RSL yet. Trey usually just says that’s it after a question and I don’t recall him ever really letting us know last question or anything.

In his defense that’s the first time I’ve seen him set off like that. Weird

Were you the one that asked why we switched tactics in the 2nd half? I liked that question?

Is the C10 still somewhat active?

I replaced the original base years ago with one where we could swap out the plates really easily. This can easily be done.

Somewhat, As usual it seems a bit more active on this side of the Divide. I'm still in the communications loop for it because of my stat keeping but I am not currently a member of the Committee. (I've turned down offers to rejoin for my 3rd time :ROFLMAO:)

    Was goobs kid
And I agree, it was a good pointed question so naturally Pablo relied on vague philosophical answers meshed with one or two “that’s how the game goes when you’re up a goal” to not make it too robotic

Answered my next question on why you got cut off, too. It was a rare night where more and more good questions were coming. Odd that Trey would want to cut it short. I assume that’s why the questions with glad and Noel were pretty short

It’s a little more difficult to ask questions with any impact or weight to players because they aren’t the ones making the decisions, plans, tactics, etc.

They do play the game but according to Pablo he doesn’t want them thinking out there. lol

They are also really good at giving rote answers so you have to try and ask in a way to get around that tactic.

Probably should work on ideas to have better interviews with players

I think the way to unlock good interviews with the players is to ask them about the past. It is so hard to get any of them to talk about anything current. And they are coached real hard not to say anything bad or burn bridges, because you never know when you are going to line up on the same side or find yourself wanting a job alongside the massive jerk.

Just like the ref interview, you guys got the best stuff when the recording was off. So, if you really want to get into it like a journalist, do stuff off record or make sure the interviewee can preview and ask to strike anything that they really shouldn’t have said. (There should be a back and forth.) Sit on the super juicy stuff until you can confirm it from a second source, and then you can pull the “lots of people are saying” Trumpy-thing to avoid any culpability or revealing a source (unless that info would only be known by a very select few people).

In my experience behavioral changes as described can result when new stressors are introduced (and for other reasons of course). Perhaps there is truth to the buzz.

This was an interesting game. The first team to get a goal did determine the match so broken clock.

I do like some of the things I see with this club but it’s like comparing the current crop of RSL strikers to the ones that started the season. It’s like asking what’s better, Christmas morning or shaft stick stuck in your eye? Christmas morning may actually suck but anything might be better than a stick in your eye.

I really like Olatunji. I don’t know if he can be your main guy but if he is part of a two or three talented striker group he has some intangibles that could be really fun to watch.

I hate to pull out the “just wait until he gets a preseason under his belt” for Cruz but that may be the case. Although, compared to his high paid compatriot I would rather see him out on the pitch over Diogo. The sooner the door hits him on the way out the better. He spends more time avoiding the spot to be at and hiding behind defenders than anyone I have ever seen. We stopped talking about the Menendez line because he’s miles below the line.

Cruz looks to be a player that works. He also makes good runs and Luna and others missed him multiple times and you could see his frustration. Kind of like the look of sadness that engulfed the face of Diogo when he scored. Like, damn, I hope that goals doesn’t affect my ability to get the boot out of here. That guy wants to be so far from RSL you can see the pain in his face.

I really don’t get how Pablo can sit and say, every week almost, that they like to play defense with the ball and then has the team play like a UTA bus could show up at any minute and no one would notice.

I hate to admit this but I was absolutely rooting for Colorado to score a late goal and walk out of the Riot with the result they deserved. Also, the reactions in the press box by some of the other guys would have been epic. I can be a dick sometimes.

It also may have ushered in a better chance that RSL moves on from Pablo. At this point we’re probably going to have to suffer through another season of the sum being less than their parts only with better players.

I should clarity that I do want RSL to successful and win multiple MLS Cups, Supporter Shields, US Open Cups, Leagues Cups, CONCACAF and more but I don’t believe with any ounce of confidence that Pablo and crew have the slightest idea or ability to win any of those at any time. Prove me wrong.

There were some good things. The goal was really, really, nice. The pass back from Cruz to a spot any smart player would be worked out really well and the goal was struck with commitment.

Can you be disappointed that Cabral has played so well this season? He is probably the reason that Pablo is still in the building. He has been absolutely amazing and looks like he could really use the offseason to recharge. He has been rode hard and put away wet but no complaints here. He also made this team his by just being the vet and all round good guy that he is. Has to be the player of the year and it’s not even close.

Luna didn’t have a great game but it wasn’t terrible. Although he doesn’t look like he has adjusted to having a player like Cruz because he missed him multiple times. Live and learn.

Glad was a beast and rightly noticed.

Ojeda is the most under appreciated player on the team perhaps. The guy is really good.

Abada and Piol are like going down a man and when you have Wolff on the pitch with those guys you get the Benny Hill Show theme running through your head whether you like it or not. That was some embarrassing play by the subs.

There was one play when Agada was off to the races and then turned around and someone in the back row slammed the desk. It might have been Trey. lol

Wolff not chipping the keeper was a missed opportunity for sure. He had him dead to rights.

Yedlin played well and may be figuring out how to play with these guys.

At this point might as well root for the playoffs but this is RSL could definitely look a gift horse in the mouth for damn sure. If any team could turn needing 1 point in two games into a Mount Everest like challenge it would be this club.

Shitting on Diogo this game ain’t the right time. He was not worth his contract, but he was good. There was also an extremely noticeable drop in ability to maintain possession once he left. If there is frustration in this games performance it should be directed at Luna. He was a ghost for long long stretches

the observation on diogos lack of celebration is apt though. It was weird. Like he was sorry it happened

Perhaps. I need to watch again. I could be snow blind to Diogo at this point.

It could be a case of, I’m not going to make a big deal out of a goal given that it should be just one of many.
