What a cluster. Watched the game in the stands after work and it was not a great game to take a first time soccer watcher. My boss was in town and I took him to the game and now I think I just might get canned for putting him through what ever that was. lol Chicho is broken. That is obvious. He is a blunt force object that needs the subtleties of others around him to be the creative nails he can drive home. He's a lurking menace that pounces but if the other players around him aren't getting the ball in dangerous positions he has nothing to exploit. He can't do it alone but doesn't seem to understand that. Check out our latest episode. I feel vindicated with my thoughts on our CB pairing. I don't think that Vera or Glad are striking fear into a single opponents attacking strike force. Not by a long shot. I hate Phlem and Vera should not play the rest of the season. Just bullshit. Quinton looked to have the RB position nailed down but now he gets to go back to being a CB I guess. Thanks Vera. I like that Crooks is getting some love from Pablo after the game. There were a few flashes of team brilliance with him, Marczuk, Luna, and others. Just flashes though. There was a play that ended being saved in the second half that was beautiful. Just not enough of it. This team is lost and this season could tank spectacularly. I really expect them to get blitzed in San Jose. Why not? If I'm the Quakes I smell blood in the water and would want to take all of my season frustrations out on an ever sinking ship that is RSL. Clean sheet, that's good. But watch Pablo put Beavers back in goal. I wish I had answers.
100% here. Also, very disappointed in the fans cheering Vera after being sent off and chanting RYS after the red.
Jasper got a two game suspension for spitting in the direction of a player. I bet Vera gets a longer suspension for spitting on a player. https://www.wasatch.soccer/post/2023-03-02/69/jasper-loffelsend-suspended-spitting-incident
He’s not mentally checked out He looks like he’s emotionally charged in everything. Literally everything. The guy throws himself to the ground on every single tackle. It’s tiresome. It’s got to be exhausting to have that from a teammate… and he’s the captain
This is utter bullxxxx from the club: "On a testing night for RSL, the hosts were forced to finish the game with 10 men after centerback Brayan Vera was handed his marching orders by referee Ricardo Montero for an illegal challenge late in the game during second-half stoppage time." https://www.rsl.com/news/player-spotlight-quinton-glad-eneli-all-impress-in-eighth-clean-sheet Call it what it is. There is no defending what he did and to try to call it something else is inexcusable. This has to be called out at all levels.
Thank you for posting this. I agree it is absolute BS to state it like this. I called it out on X (twitter) and Trey responded within minutes asking where that was. Spin machine is fully activated at the club and it's not a good look.
The match timeline on mlssoccer.com says Vera was shown red for poor sportsmanship. That's some high quality spin from Trey and co. to say the red was for an illegal challenge.
And then he acted dumb asking me where. Either no one knows what is going on or they are in full spin mode trying to cover up the stench from the past few months performances. Whatever the reason, not a good look when the VP of Communications doesn't know what is being posted on the team website or willing to act that dumb. I didn't tag the team or any individual. Just included #RSL.
Y’all lack imagination. I would say that spitting on someone is, historically, a very personal challenge.
You know what Trey hasn’t done since August 23? Put out a bleeding claret and cobalt. Is the organization just completely on fire?
Weren't there some changes this summer? Sincere question. The website stories (pre- and post-match) have had quite a bit of spin. Reading them is a bit of a word salad.
Vera was not one of the players fined by the MLS Disciplinary Committee today. Surely they're waiting to announce his suspension.
I don't expect we hear about his suspension for while. He's out this Saturday anyway. Any additional suspensions are usually announced after the automatic 1 game suspension (unless international windows, etc.). Additionally, given that extra games are getting added, there is the appeal process as well. Announcement won't come until after appeal heard and decided. My bet is he's out 3 additional games on top of the auto 1 match suspension. Mean he won't be back until a 3rd playoff match (if we have one).
They have updated the story: "On a testing night for RSL, the hosts were forced to finish the game with 10 men after centerback Brayan Vera was handed his marching orders by referee Ricardo Montero for spitting on an opponent late in the game during second-half stoppage time."
My last thought on this one is the rough game would have been fine if we held out stoppage time leads in the previous two matches. On its own, okay; in context, worrying at the least.
