Tough game in Houston that should be an interesting tell on how this new look RSL team is coming together for the stretch run down to the playoffs. RSL, for some unknown reason, struggles coming off any kind of game break, so probably shouldn't expect much when you add that, along with the state of Texas and integrating new players being thrown into the equation, then this should be a really tough game to get a result. Curious to see how the Houston v LAFC game goes this weekend. Another Houston victory over LAFC, they beat them last week, and they could get within 1 point of RSL with a 3rd straight victory. A victory would go a very long way to righting the ship so to speak. In the last 7 games RSL lost as many games as they did in their first 20 games, (3). In the first 10 games RSL went 5 wins 2 losses 3 draws, next 10 games 5 wins, 1 loss and 4 draws, followed by 3 wins 3 losses 1 draw so far in the next 10 games. Their next 3 are Houston away and then FCD and PTFC at home before the last 4 games of the season. I would probably take a well played draw in Houston and 4 to 6 points for the home games. Not expecting 3 points but I do expect to see more of the team that showed up against NE than the one that lost to SJ.
Houston looks to be getting better each week as we skid and they have our number. A win would be a pretty big statement but I’m expecting another 3-0 loss.
Yeah that’s not great for them but, as you’re aware, we also just lost one of our DPs to a transfer and they’re getting Carrasquilla back from injury. I still think we lose 3-0 but I’ll be watching and cheering.
Ok, I'm going to take a guess at the lineup for tomorrow. Listening to Kreis, he said there's some guys that have been in the 20 (let's be honest, I think it's been less than that most of the season) all season that won't be making the trip. Palacio is out for some reason, but other than the season ending guys, RSL is supposed to be healthy and Marczuk is back (likely not starting though). While I'm glad that RSL has depth (where have I heard that before?), it remains to be seen if these guys are actually better or just more guys fighting to come off the bench. Chicho Luna Goncalves Brook Ojeda Eneli Katranis Vera Glad Brown Beavers Subs: MacMath, Silva, Brody, Hidalgo, Caliskan, Crooks, Marczuk, Michel, Julio Quick note on Goncalves. RSL press release said he only had 21 goals and 8 assists in 57 games for Copenhagen. It looks like he didn't play as a typical AM, but should we be concerned about those kind of numbers, especially the assists?
If he's scoring I don't care as much about the assists. .5 goal contribution per game is pretty solid.
Except is that the expectation as a center of the field AM? I want an AM more concerned about feeding the goal scorers. Take Luna, he's got 5 goals and 8 assists in 24 appearances. Again, about the same goal contributions per game, but more assist weighted.
At the end of the day we need goals to win. It doesn't matter to me where they come from. Plus, the more scoring threats you have, the harder it is for the defense to lock any one player down.
According to the RSL show, Vera picked up a neck injury. They weren't sure if it prevents him from playing on Saturday. Didn't sound serious though.
Also, I feel like Vera is one of the guys who is taking his starting position for granted, although I could be wrong.
What happened to Marcelo Silva? I spoke with him about 2 months ago and he said he was 3 weeks away from returning?
Almost nailed it. Quinton gets the start and Vera is on the bench instead of Silva. Chang is on the bench over Michel.
Rsl show made it sound like a knee injury that could be season ending That sucks That spot has to have depth
Really frantic energy for the first 15 that has somewhat died down since Chicho looks a shell of the player he was to start the season still I’m not sure how to describe it but he just doesn’t have the same aura on the ball
