So is this what it was like being another mls team fan in the 2010s when rsl played good fun soccer? Cuz I watch other mls games and they’re almost always more fun. Then I watch rsl and just pray that somehow Luna will be all 11 players
So the announcers got something right. There's no mentality that Pablo seems to discuss so often. They look like they quit tonight. There's just not enough talent on this team. They finished last season pretty ugly and managed to get worse. It won't help Luna, but you have to think about clearing house if you're the Millers.
Exactly. Any team should feel bad losing to this Rapids squad. But also, any team should feel bad losing to the RSl squad.
The half assed rotation was irritating. That the subs who came in made the game worse was inexcusable. wtf is wrong with Marckzuk? How is our defense the worst when Glads on the field? What is Agada?
Marczuk has been very disappointing, although he served up a ball to Barea that should have been an assist on the scoresheet.
You know what RSL looks like? A newly promoted team (think Leicester) that has players on it that were once good, are going to be good, and some generally “ok” talent. But lacks true starters at this level in about 7 or 8 spots on the field
Last year at this time, when we were almost unstoppable, we had generally the same players except for: Chicho Gomez Crooks
I’m out of town next weekend so don’t get to see Vancouver come and beat us up. Pablo should be concerned about his job. I don’t think the Millers are paying any attention, though. The KSL article about Wednesdays game focused on the shitty rendition of the national anthem. It said everything about how much pressure is on this team
Except for scorers and creators. Players who the other team had to respect and play more defensively.
I'm not contradicting. I guess I should add that we've got Cabral too. It's just sad that we lost those 3 guys, (and Crooks didn't even really start performing that well until about May-June) and we did a very poor job of replacing them. To be fair as well, we were also just 1ppg from July on, even with Chicho and Crooks.
Tradition, player closest to 108 (the SG section on the sideline) gets heckled, unless some other opposing player does something stupid/embarrassing early in the game and gets the target instead. It is. (Or at least some sort of food truck, but I think its tacos) BTW, Salt Lake needs to win the return match by at least 2 to claim the Cup this year. A one goal win means it stays in Colorado on the tiebreaker. A draw or Colorado win means it stays on points.
Wait, why do we only play the cRapids twice this year? Do we play anyone three times or did they (smartly) get rid of that? edit: yes. 2025 season has home/away with conference (28 games) then 6 games against opposite conference (split 3/3 home/away)
I'm going out on a limb and saying that until things change dramatically on the pitch, and maybe off, the post game press conferences are going to be like ground hog day game after game. RSL is great between the boxes, the defense is staying together but one or two avoidable mistakes lead to a cheap goal that the offense can't compensate to even up the score. The game comes down to moments that players need to turn in to dangerous opportunities and goals. It's not the tactics. The lack of urgency was pretty surprising last night. But when you know you don't have anyone that can score except Luna I don't know how you can have any kind of belief in what you are doing on offense as a club. The last two goals given up were totally defendable and cost RSL 3 big points. 2 in Dallas and 1 in Denver. But on the other hand, you can't score 1 goal in two games and expect to get any points so just getting a point out of the last two games is almost monumental. You bring in Agada and then you just ignore him the entire game? You have a player that is supposed to be great with the hold up play and playing with his back to goal and you loft in 15 freaking crosses to no where? RSL is in an interesting dilemma, they don't have any players that can manufacture their own goals and opportunities, outside of Luna, but they are constantly talking about players needing to step up in the moments that are presented during the game, but they don't have the players to consistently get the ball into dangerous spots, so they revert to just lobbing in hopeful crosses to players that haven't scored of a set piece yet this season. It's a mess. I looked and in 14 games RSL has failed to score in 6. Almost half of the season RSL has failed to score a goal. They have scored multiple goals in only four games. FOUR. So in 10 of their 14 games they have scored 1 goal or less. They have a big stretch of home games that should help figure out which way this season goes. If they even make it that far without making changes but I'm pretty sure their aren't many changes on the horizon.
